How can I get closed captioning to work on ABC?

My CC stopped working on all ABC programming, which come from our local ABC affiliate. This is consistent with all our TVs. CC works on all other channels and networks. The local affiliate says it sees no problems.

To enable closed captioning on ABC, access the settings menu on your TV or cable/satellite box, locate the Closed Captioning or Subtitles option, set it to "On" or "Enabled," and then tune into ABC to check if closed captions are displayed.

Hello @Rfkemp1, we know the importance of being able to get closed captioning on your TV. We are here to assist.

Please follow the steps provided by @catox69052 to set up Closed Captioning.

When you go to the menu on your remote, you might see "Options" on the screen. In this case:

  • Press the Menu button on your remote:
  • Select Options
  • Scroll to System, then press the OK button.
  • Choose Closed Captioning. Follow the prompts on the screen.

We also encourage you to take a look at our help page on how to set closed captioning for your TV for additional instructions and info.

Try using a different subtitle generator for captioning your videos and change the formats from .srt to .vtt or vice versa and compare the results.
