HELP!!!! ATT/Sedgwick won't fix the damage they did in our new home!!!
Hey guys!! Need help. December 2016, moved into our new home(new construction). ATT came to install our internet/cable December 20, 2016. The technicians had to go in our attic to install wiring. While in the attic, one of the technicians stepped down and caused the ceiling in our bedroom to crack. They called their manager, who came in to inspect the damage, he then sent the info to Sedgwick, who emailed us a claim number. The first email that Sedgwick sent after sending us a claim number, was an offer of $250 to fix our ceiling. We told them no, that wouldn't be enough to cover the damage that ATT caused. Sedgwick told us to get estimates and send them. The 1st estimate we sent, the Sedgwick guy said that the estimate was too high and that all they could offer was $250. Again, we told the Sedgwick guy "no" because $250 would not cover the damage to our ceiling. The Sedgwick guy told us to get another estimate, which we did, and it was 1000.00 less than the 1st estimate. Sent the Sedgwick guy the 2nd estimate and he said he couldn't pay that either, but he took his offer up to $400, which is about 1800.00 less than the estimate we got. We have gone back and forth with this Sedgwick guy through email and he hasn't responded to us since mid-February.
Sedgwick has been AWFUL!! Can't believe that ATT is allowing Sedgwick to do this to their customers!!
If anybody else has dealt with this, what did you do to get this resolved?? All I want is to get my ceiling fixed by the people/company who damaged it, ATT!!!!

So did the tech step on the sheetrock and crack it? Because a piece of sheetrock (4'x8') is around $20 and to install it would be around $100 (thank you HGTV). Some texture (maybe, maybe not) can't be more than $200. So we're at less than $350 but the estimate you got was OVER $2000? I'm all about paying a claim (been there...done that) and you can pad those numbers a bit but you've got to be reasonable. Insurance adjusters KNOW how much things cost so you really can't be outrageous in your estimates.
I DID have tech damage with our install years ago so I know what I'm talking about. The tech DID step through the ceiling in the garage (large hole) and the falling sheetrock damaged our parked car. I got a reasonable estimate on the car and a reasonable estimate for the ceiling (one piece of sheetrock and $200 to install it). Sedgwick sent me a check, no questions asked.
This reminds me of the lady that said the tech scratched the headboard of her fancy bed and wanted $10,000 for the bed. I wanted to know what a $10,000 bed looked like!
P.S. TOS states than any dispute must be handled through arbitration.

One of the guys who did an estimate also mentioned replacing the insulation, not just fixing sheet rock. Trust me, we are not trying to get over, we just want it fixed. We received 3 estimates and they each were 2000.00 and up. Those estimates were sent to Sedgwick on the invoices that we were given, because, Sedgwick required that. We talked to a lawyer and he said what you mentioned, about the sheetrock only being $250, but when we mentioned the insulation, plus the insulation clean up, etc, the lawyer changed his tune. Again, we just want it fixed, the sheet rock, whatever insulation needs to be replaced, and the clean up.

I don't get the insulation scam. I had insulation all over my garage that fell through the large hole. I swept it up. Again, insurance adjusters know what repairs and services cost in your zip code.
I can't imagine Sedgwick paying $2200 to replace a piece of sheetrock.

Thank you for your response. I put my question on this forum to get help and get this issue resolved. 3 different estimates were over 2000.00, so they all are scammers? Those are the quotes we received. But thank you for your help.

All I can do is share my experience.
One would have to wonder if, knowing that this is an insurance claim, the contractor(s) are over pricing the repairs.
You're in Tennessee. I'm in Texas. I can't imagine that costs are that much more there (inlaws in Knoxville).

I too am involved in an ATT/Sedgwick claim regarding water damage to my house due to improper maintenance and code violations of ATT equipment. ATT immediately remedied as they are very responsive with their customers, but there was extreme water damage to my interior den. Sedgwick does not send out an claims adjuster. They look for every conceivable way to stall and manufacture absurd reasons and ways to avoid the payout for damages after keeping people in limbo for months on end. Finally, Sedgwick told me to go ahead and repair the damages since we could no longer tolerate breathing in the moldy wet air in our house. Sedgwick stated they would reimburse me which to date of 4/25/17 has not happened. They are so unprofessional and refuse to answer calls or emails for weeks on end. Please email me at *** to discuss. Anyone else out there with an issue with Sedgwick please let me know as well. Sheila

Hello - I recently encountered similar issue like yours where the ATT tech made a 4x4 whole in my 14' ceiling. The hose is 1 year old and the ceiling has the knockdown texture - the whole is in the middle of a very large living room. Got two estimates and they both were around 2k, this includes the repair and having to paint the whole ceiling of the living room area and blowing some insulation as I lost plenty of it.. So pretty much very consistent with your story. Can you please let me know what happened with your case? I'm fighting with Sedgwick as well since they think its a $450 job.
thanks!

Have you tried filing a claim on your homeowners insurance? I'm not sure how it works with homeowners insurance but I know with auto insurance, if your auto ins. pays a claim and a third party was responsible, your INSURANCE company will go after that third party to recover the loss (payout). This is why insurance companies have a whole room full of attorneys on staff.
As I posted a year ago, I dealt with Sedgwick and had a positive outcome but perhaps they are not as co-operative as they once were.
