Headphones don't work with new uverse DVR

I don't have any sound coming through my headphones after a new Uverse DVR was installed replacing the old Uverse DVR which worked fine with my headphones. How can I fix this???

You need to provide a lot more information about your headphone's technology, how you had them connected/setup before the DVR change, what changes to that connection/setup that swapping out the DVR necessitated, and what you've tried so far to diagnose the problem.

You should also mention whether or not the TV plays sound through the speakers when using the new DVR.

Thanks for commenting. Everything is exactly the same set up as the old DVR, I just moved the cords over and plugged them into the same outlets on the back of the new DVR.  The television works fine no problem with the sound.

Here are two example back panel photos of a U-verse TV Receiver:

You might note that neither of these has a jack labeled headphone.  So, again, I ask how are your headphones connected???

Which DVR did you have (old one) and which DVR did you get (new DVR)?

VIP 2250 is the old one and IPH 8010 is the new one.

Okay, so you're using the standard Stereo Out outputs.  I [have to] assume you're using the HDMI cable to connect to the TV.  OttoPylot's suggestion regarding the receiver's audio settings is well taken; when set for Dolby out, the stereo outputs may be inactive.  Try switching your Audio settings to Stereo at:

Menu > Options > Audio/Language > Digital Audio Output

If set for "Surround Sound", change to "Stereo"

If already set to stereo, then try moving your plugs to the top pair of red/white connectors.

Thank you for the detailed instructions I really appreciate your help. My audio output is already set on stereo and the top pair of connectors are where the TV audio plugs are.

I just noticed that on the new DVR IPH 8010 there is only one pair of audio out red and white connections, on the old DVR VIP 2250 there were two pairs, one for the TV and the other for the headphones. It looks like I put the headphone connection cables into the Pb and Pr slots (not used on the old DVR box) only because they are now positioned underneath the only pair of audio out connectors. Can I get a splitter and try to connect both TV and headphones to the same audio out connectors?? Is there such a thing??

Dang it, I didn't get a picture of the IPH 8010 or I would have noticed the second pair of audio outs being gone.

Yes, you could use two RCA to RCA splitters, one for each of LEFT and RIGHT.  The following link is for a pair of them at Amazon.  To be properly color coded,  you really want one to have two red connectors and the other to have two white connectors, but the colors won't break the functionality.

Wow, thanks so much. I will order that splitter from Amazon and see if that works. You have been a great help!!

Ok, I will try to find those two RCA color coded spliters. Thanks for your help. If it doesn't work I will let you know.

my understanding is pb and pr are video connections and wouldn't work.

So do you use the yellow/white/red  rca connectors to connect to your tv?

Is there a reason you don't use hdmi to connect to tv?

my understanding is pb and pr are video connections and wouldn't work.

What happened is that they replaced his receiver from one that had two rows of audio connectors stacked one on top of the other to one that had the component video connections relocated to put Pb and Pr where the second set of stereo audio connecters were on the previous box.  He moved cables one to one without noticing the change in purpose.  So, no, they didn't work.
