DVR not recording
My 2nd, yes I said 2nd, ATT U-verse DVR is not working properly.
-Scheduled recordings are not recording
-Recordings disappear
-Conducted troubleshooting suggested SEVERAL TIMES.
I have gotten a new DVR and the same thing is happening. I am so tired of ATT U-verse. It is always something. Only thing left to do is make an appointment...and we all know how easy that is.😡
Why is this happing and how is it fixed?

Making an appointment is not going to fix these sorts of issues. The technician cannot change the DVR's programming.
Scheduled Recordings don't record for a variety of reasons, among them:
- Schedule is for a specific time and the actual start time is a bit off
- Schedule is for First Run Only and the program is not marked as First Run
- DVR has been running for too long and is slowly losing its mind (reboot periodically to avoid)
Recordings Disappear automatically for a variety of reasons. You can control some of them by setting retention policies to keep it from happening.

Thanks for your suggestions and input. This is the 2nd box and it is still deleting recordings at random. Interestingly enough, the app. for my AT&T U-verse shows that there are recordings but these recordings do not show up on TV menu. ???? All trouble shooting has been tried from my end to no avail. I have talked with AT&T technicians a few times and they can't seem to fix it from their end. An appointment has been set for tomorrow. Also, now during live TV programs, my TV's are now skipping an freezing constantly. I give up!

Do you have more than one U-verse TV Receiver?
Do you know which one is the actual DVR and which one(s) are just Receivers?
Do "all" of your recording disappear when you say it's "deleting recordings?"

Only 1 DVR + 3 receivers (2 receivers are hard wired)
DVR is connected to main tv with sound system.
Recordings can not be seen on any TV DVR menu.
Yes, "all" recordings have disappeared but can be seen on AT&T U-verse app. Recordings can only be played back on TV DVR or receivers and not through app.
I have had this service and system for 7 years and this is the first time I have experienced disappearing recordings.

Recordings cannot be watched (played) on the app so you can take that issue off the table.

But it would be nice if one could watch recordings through the app.

Usually, when the entire slate of recordings disappear like that, it's because you're looking at the recording list from a non-DVR receiver and the DVR and receiver are having trouble communicating with each other. In short, they're not really deleted, just not visible. If you're having that behavior on the DVR itself, which you just had replaced, that's some strange juju.
The DVR owns the recorded list, and it gets queried for it when you look at the list from the mobile app. If you hadn't just the DVR replaced, at this point I'd be suggesting a non-destructive Disaster Recovery for the DVR. Which might be the thing to do anyway. But first, I'd be sure to do the whole house reboot if you haven't recently done that.

We are having the same issues and have just received our 2nd DVR. Could the number of scheduled recordings have anything to do with this? We have over 300 scheduled recordings. HELP!!
