DVR deleting shows that were recorded
The DVR seems to have deleted every show that isn't marked "keep until I erase". Equipment is pretty old.

If it's not marked "keep until I erase" then older shows will automatically delete in order to make room for new shows.
If all shows are marked as such, newer shows will not record.

While that makes sense I should have mentioned that it says 40% of my recording space is still available. So in that way it is odd that it is deleting new shows if so much space is free on the dvr. Not yet willing to try non/disaster recovery since shows may be lost. May binge shows this weekend then call for support. We have had uverse for about 15 years so dvr may need replacing. Thank you.

A non-disaster won't delete any recordings.

In case you’re indirectly asking if it makes sense to ask for a replacement DVR, you’ll likely swap one old tired box for the another old tired one.
However, if the DVR fails to function properly after a factory reset, then I’d ask for a replacement to rule out hardware.

Having same issue as a lot of folks here -- lost 1/2 my recordings that I did not delete and are not in the trash. Plenty of available space on DVR, and had even expanded it. Have replaced box twice and still can't get a response. More recordings disappeared overnight - one that I just started watching yesterday! No errors showing up anywhere. I've escalated this multiple times and no help. I hope someone reviewing this forum can help me as I can't keep losing recordings that can never be re-recorded or shown again. Any help appreciated - thanks!

The recordings details are stored on the Att servers whereas the actual recordings are on the DVR. This is why it’s suggested to restart the DVR or factory reset it, to cause the server to resync with the settop box. It’s also a good idea to keep the hardware on battery backup.

I have had this problem for 8 years since Uverse was installed. I'll save you a read. It's the DVR. It's faulty software is what I was told by a "Prem-Tech" ATT employee. He also added, they cannot fix it as it will cost too much. ATT wanted to transition all their customers to satellite...That failed. Having same issue as a lot of folks here -- lost all of my recordings that I did not delete repeatedly. Plenty of available space on DVR, and had even freed up space. Have replaced box 8 times and still can't get a response. Nothing fixes this. I know, I've tried.

IIRC, the software that the boxes run on is based off Microsoft Windows CE.
There was a time eons ago when someone with an original Microsoft Xbox could use it as a U-Verse receiver. This ended a long time ago. Eventually, Microsoft pulled out and I think that's about when the software stopped being developed, although I think there's been 1-2 updates since then.
@skeeterintexas please correct if I'm wrong.

That sounds right.
I've been lucky: no deleted recordings here but there was never any rhythm or reason as to who it affected.
AFA updates, I wouldn't venture a guess as to when there was an update pushed through.
