Disable standby to avoid from pressing OK.
We have 6 U-verse receivers in a A/V closet for 6 treadmills with TV's and when the machines are not in use the receivers timeout and you have to press the ok button. The treadmills are able to change the channels on the console, but do not have an ok button, so you have to go in the closet and and press ok button on all 6 receivers to work properly.
How do you disable standby to avoid from having to press OK button on the receivers?

Periodically (more frequently than 8 hours) send some command via IR to the set top to keep it from timing out. OK works. The timeout itself cannot be removed.

If you change the channel, doesn't the 8-hr timer reset? Therefore, wouldn't changing the channel be enough?

Yes. But that changes the channel. Pressing OK is usually OK (except for when you're on a channel that has an App). Can you think of some other command that does nothing if you're just watching a channel?
