Control external speakers with remote

Please reply if you have a proven solution for controlling external speakers and/or audio recevier using Uverse S10-S3  remote. I need the manufacturer, model, and Uverse code. My configuration is HDMI from Uverse receiver to Samsung smart TV, and optical digital audio out from TV to the new speakers/receivers. No soundbars please.

@dfj1 - Aux sound can be simple or it can be complicated - Complicated is when you want to select the input on the receiver, select which speakers (TV or aux), turn everything on & off  - All from one remote. The S-10 cannot do that. If you want that you want a Logitech Harmony remote.

Simple is controlling the sound you hear with the s-10 remote. Program the remote to do that -

att/OK - 955 -ENTER will program the audio control to follow the mode button. Watching in att mode varies the STB audio level.

The STB level is displayed on the TV. Max is 25. Set it to 15

Set the TV sound level to a comfortable level

Set the receiver/speakers to a comfortable level.

While watching in att mode the vol +/-  buttons will vary the the STB sound, as needed & you will hear the result on the TV or the aux speakers, whichever is on.

You do not even need a receiver. You can use powered speakers intended for computers. Of course, cheap ones will not sound any better than the TV. Plan on $100 as a starting point for good ones. Check ourt B&H camera as a source.

Even better is a Zvox sound bar. This is not your average sound bar. It is intended that the TV sit on top. Mine is hidden behind the TV. My son's is on a shelf in the cabinet. It disappears from view.

It has awsome sound. It has total flexibility on IR code - It's own - Five common TVs & I think it may even learn from the remote - Not the zvox remote learning, but the speaker system learning.

Check out the Zvox web site & you can buy refurbs from the factory via e-bay. I did,the 220. excellent choice.

If a code is available, it'll be here:

Thank you. I did purchase the ZVOX 220 and I can verify that the sound level, mute, and power on/off can be totally controlled by the ATT Uverse S10 remote. I have an older Samsung smart tv model series F5500 and connected its tv audio out to the RCA plugs on the ZVOX. It took some fiddling with the ZVOX learn fn. and the Uverse remote to send volume up/down signal to the AUX/ZVOX box. However, at the end of the day, everything is working fine.

Hi daphne69, we'd be glad to address your inquiry about the S30 remote!

The OK button in the middle is used as an Enter button on the S30 and S20 remotes. If you need help programming your remote, we have a guide on our website that you can use.

If you have any other questions, we're happy to help, but we need you to create a new thread. This one is 7 years old and subject to being closed to further posting.
