constant freezing of picture

We have 4 tv's and all of them are constantly freezing.  This is very frustrating abd it is getting worse.  Today it will play for 1 minute and then freeze.  We cannot watch anything!

Unplug everything.

Plug your gateway back in and wait for normal operations.

Plug your WAP back in and wait for normal operations.

Plug your DVR back in and wait for normal operations.

Plug your receivers back in and wait for normal operations.

When you do that, make sure all connections are tight.

Are you using coax or ethernet? Switch to ethernet.

I see the power button on the receiver is red, not green.  What does that mean?

Hi there, @Clod72, We understand that you are having a problem with your AT&T U-Verse receivers. We can help you with that.

@baseballisback, our ACE, has provided some steps that should correct the freezing of the U-Verse TV service. Have you tried those steps yet? If not, please try them.

Your additional comment stated that, the power light on the receiver is red.  A red light on any piece of equipment is not a good thing. That means that the receiver is not getting enough power. There are a few things that we can recommend that should turn that red light green

  1. Check the power cord that is plugged in. Look for any damage to the cord, such as fraying or exposed wires. That normally means that cable is unfit to continue working and that needs to be replaced.
  2. If there is no damage to the cord, if the cord is plugged into a surge protector, unplug it and plug it into a wall outlet directly.
  3. If there is no available outlet in the wall, then try to change the outlet on the surge protector.

If these things do not resolve the red light on the receiver, then we need look into replacing the unit as whole. If this a DVR, then you will lose all recordings either scheduled or previously recorded. Let us know what you want to do.

I'm sure @skeeterintexas would agree here:

"A red light on any piece of equipment is not a good thing."

The record light on the U-Verse equipment is red. IIRC, some of the lights on the gateway and WAP are red.

These red lights are not bad things.
