we switched to a streaming DirecTV from Uverse. agent who handled the transaction requested us to return equipment to a UPS or FedEx facility, supply our account number and they would package and return to att. then a couple days later we received an email asking us to recycle the equipment (contents below). The link in this message does not work. what should we do with the equipment?

Don't worry about returning your U-verse equipment. Recycle it! |

We've received your request and for your convenience, there is no need for you to return your equipment.

Hey there @seeacrane. We'd be happy to help you with your old internet equipment.
We appreciate @baseballisback for providing that information on our process.
Furthermore, we also have some information here on how to return your Uverse equipment. You can call our representative at 800-288-2020 to confirm how you'll need to return your device, or if you can just recycle it.
Let us know if you have any future questions. Thanks for contacting the AT&T Community Forums.

Return, don't return, return, don't return.
Was that you @baseballisback that said the smartest thing to do is store the equipment in a closet and let it collect dust?

@skeeterintexas
Indeed.
Here's what I'd do:
Make every attempt to return all unnecessary/unneeded equipment to UPS/FedEx. I'd even try multiple locations if the first doesn't accept.
If they accept, hang on to the receipt for dear life.
If that doesn't work, put in a closet.
