Can’t connect roku tv with AT&T uverse
I recently bought a 22” Roku smart tv. I’m not able to connect it to Uverse. I was on the phone with 3 different AT&T people for 3 hours and they couldn’t help. I scoured the Roku website and found no answers. When I finally called the Best Buy HQ, I was told that Roku is “not compatible” with AT&T Uverse. I find that hard to believe. Does anyone have experience connecting a Roku tv with AT&T Uverse? Thanks.

There are no error messages. My connection is Ethernet. I dont know for certain if I’m connecting directly to the Gateway, but I think the answer is yes. Thanks!

I have 2 Rokus…both connected to AT&T INTERNET.
You have posted in the UverseTV forum. ROKU has nothing to do with UverseTV. Roku is a streaming service, either a stick or an integrated TV.
Follow the TV directions to set it up to connect to your gateway. Once it finds the gateway signal, you’ll have to enter your gateway password.

Roku TVs can not themselves directly decode the U-verse IPTV content. They must have a U-verse TV Receiver to receive the U-verse IPTV content and display that on the TV using an HDMI cable (or something similar). In that respect they are "not compatible" with U-verse, but there are no TVs that are any more compatible.
However, the Roku TVs should have no trouble connecting to the AT&T Internet.
Given the above, is your question answered?

Are you trying to connect a UVERSE receiver to the TV?

Thanks very much for your suggestions and questions. I’m able to access the channels that Roku provides. But I’m not able to access the TV channels that I subscribe to via ATT Uverse. I’m also not able to access the recorded programs on the Uverse DVR. Yes, I have a Uverse TV box/DVR. Again, thanks.

So, this Roku TV has an HDMI input jack?
This Roku TV remote has an "INPUT" or "HDMI" button?
Are you having issues getting the Roku TV to show you the screen produced by the AT&T U-verse TV receiver so that you can navigate it with the U-verse remote?
Or are you having issues trying to use the Roku TV User Interface to directly access AT&T U-verse channels and features?

HOW is your U-verse DVR attached to the TV? Component? HDMI?
You should be able access the DVR if you choose the correct input on the TV.

Here are some answers to your questions:
1. So, this Roku TV has an HDMI input jack? —YES
2. This Roku TV remote has an "INPUT" or "HDMI" button? — Not an Input button per se. But in the Settings, there’s a link for TV Inputs. I’ve clicked on the specific HDMI number and have made sure to connect the HDMI cable to that HDMI.
3. Are you having issues getting the Roku TV to show you the screen produced by the AT&T U-verse TV receiver so that you can navigate it with the U-verse remote? —YES
Or are you having issues trying to use the Roku TV User Interface to directly access AT&T U-verse channels and features? —YES, both
4. HOW is your U-verse DVR attached to the TV? Component? HDMI? — HDMI (I’ve checked and double checked the cable, and swapped out another HDMI cable. I don’t think the cables are defective.)
Again, many thanks for helping me diagnose the problem.

I don't have a Roku TV, so I don't have any guidance on how to tell it to switch to an HDMI input, but if you have a button on the remote and it's positively telling you that input has been selected, that should be enough. Once you do that...

OK, @Bethgivens50
Let's separate the issues. Has this U-Verse ever worked or is it a new install? Did ity work with another TV?
The ROKU TV has two parts: a TV, and a Roku. The Roku is connected by Ethernet. Do I understand that the Roku part works, meaning you can watch Roku "channels" like RokuTV, Tubi, Netflix, etc. The main Roku interface uses U-Verse INTERNET.
Unforunately, there is no U-Verse "channel" for Roku, meaning you cannot watch U-Verse TV through the Roku interface.
You should have a U-Verse receiver, with an HDMI output. You should have a receiver like this: https://www.att.com/support/article/u-verse-tv/KM1086831/
That receiver should connect with an HDMI cable from the U-Verse TV receiver to an HDMI interface like HDMI 1.
You then tell the Roku TV to connect to HDMI 1. That moves from the ROKU to the TV.
At that point, you should take the U-verse remote and power on the U-Verse TV receiver which will send video to HDMI 1.

I’ve taken the steps suggested by the most recent commenter, to no avail, with thanks to each of you for your suggestions. To answer one of your questions, I bought the Roku tv to replace an older tv that has been successfully connected to Uverse for years. The audio on the older tv is shot … very faint. And yes, I can watch the Roku separate from the Uverse connection. I just can’t connect to Uverse and access all the channels available to our household via Uverse. I like the features of the Roku tv which is why I bought it. Given the many hours I’ve spent, talking with folks at ATT, scouring the Roku website (and finding no way to speak with a live “Roku” representative), seeking advice from this forum, etc., all without success, I’m going to return the tv. Again, many thanks to each of you.

@Bethgivens50 If you haven't already returned it:
How was the older TV connected? HDMI? RCA? Coax/Channel 3?
The main thing here is that the U-Verse box is just an external video source to the RokuTV and should easily hook up to the external video inputs of the TV. Then, you select the input on the RokuTV.
Here's a video on how to set up and select an external device as an input: https://youtu.be/LA8F9VU7hO8?t=36
So: How was it connected to the old TV? Follow the same connection path, and select that video input on the RokuTV.
