Cannot get any help

We have a Uverse receiver that has been going out for some time. We called to get a replacement. The new receiver came and It would not connect.  We called and they sent a second receiver. Still nothing.  We have talked to tech support 3 times and all they do is read from a script and do “trouble shooting”. Then they charged us for the second replacement receiver because it was coded as a new service.  Does anyone have any advice on how to get help with this?  Changing providers is not an option because my 86 yo mom lives with us and she would never be able to learn a new system.

The only time they should have charged was if you added a receiver on or if they didn't get it shipped back fast enough.
