Can I lay my upright Uverse router on its side instead of upright?

My Uverse router is an upright one, with vents on the top and both sides. My entertainment center can't hold an upright router so am wondering if I can lay it on its side and still have adequate ventilation from top and one side? Thanks.

Yes.  So long as you provide adequate air space and there is adequate air flow in to the area, you should be fine.

I've run my RGs laying down in the past, but my neck got sore from turning sideways to read the LED labels.  😄

Seriously, I've never seen any comparison of WiFi performance for either orientation but it does seem the unit was designed to stand vertically and I especially favor this myself just for the cooling aspect alone.  Cheers.

Doesn't one of the larger sides have 4 rubber feet which would imply you can lay it flat and which side to lay it on?  My NVG599 has these.

Thanks for your reply. There are no rubber feet, but when I looked carefully I saw that there are small plastic tabs that appear to be feet. Tried it and it works just fine on its side.

Thanks for your reply. I thought so, but wasn't  sure. Turned it on its side and it's working fine so far.

No rubber feet, but when I looked carefully, I see what looks like small plastic projections that could be feet. Turned it on its side and it's working fine. I'm mainly worried now about adequate ventilation for to prevent heat build up and will watch it. Thanks so much for your reply

We've been using it upright but just got a new entertainment console that doesn't allow for it so will have to lay it on its side. Hoping this doesn't compromise the cooling aspect but it does have vents on top and both sides.

Yes. I understand.  Cable management and aesthetics matter.  However the RG box should be an exception to that consideration since hiding it away may adversely affect the performance of the WiFi functionality, perhaps limiting range of the radios.  Good luck.

I bought a black wire mesh paper basket and put both my modem and rotor on their sides, on top of it.  They both fit in the shorter area and now get ventilation.
