ATT Uverse receiver Arris VIP 2262 flashing lights

Replacement receiver works normally, but when not used for a while, it displays flashing green & red lights. I assume this means something has gone wrong. But I can't find a troubleshooting guide to tell me what the error is. So, I just push the power button to reboot, and the lights stop flashing. I'd like to know why it flashes when I'm not using the receiver, and I'm not recording anything.

We can address your concern about the flashing lights on your receiver, jhearcht2.

When lights on your U-verse receiver are blinking, it means a critical error has occurred with the receiver. The most common resolution is to reboot the receiver, as you've already done.

If the problem persists, we recommend using the Troubleshoot & Resolve Tool on U-verse TV. The Troubleshoot & Resolve app on your TV is designed to diagnose and fix service and connectivity issues, assist with common tasks such as programming your remote control, configuring, and managing your home network, and more.

We hope this information helped. If you have any other questions, let us know.

Thanks for the suggestions.

I watched the video and followed the instructions. I pressed the Menu button on the remote, but nothing happened on the TV. I pushed the Menu button on the Receiver, but nothing displayed on the TV. Consequently, I have not been able to access the Troubleshoot & Resolve Tool. My remote may be an older model, because the only Menu button is the one for viewing available channels. Not for troubleshooting.

This is not a Smart TV, so it has a Fire Stick dongle for internet input.

Cable & Internet functions are working properly, so I can't guess what the flashing lights are trying to tell me. This is a brand new replacement Receiver, and the lights have been flashing since day one. They stop flashing for a while, after I restart the Receiver. Any other ideas?

Thanks for sharing that information with us @jhearcht2.

Please make sure that you are on the Uverse TV input and not the FireStick input on your TV whenever you press the menu button. You could still be on the FireStick input, which could be why nothing happened on your TV. Once you've confirmed that you're on the correct input please press the menu button again, and let us know if it still doesn't appear.

We'd also recommend unplugging all the wires from your receiver and then plugging them back in to make sure that they are connected properly. This could be why your receiver is flashing the green and red lights.

Let us know if these steps help.

I'm not using the Firestick, but the Uverse remote (S20-S1A)  , and the Menu button on the receiver itself. I finally found the troubleshooter page on the Menu. It says "We're sorry. We've encountered a problem. Error type : service error. Please call customer care at 800-288-2020." The cable channels are now working. So I don't know why the lights are flashing.

Hi there, I am wondering if there was any ever resolution in this situation.  I am having a similar situation with my DVR receiver.  I am honestly at the point of canceling AT&T Uverse because of the unnecessary frustration.

Thank you!!
