ATT U-verse Multiple Series

I have this issue where I noticed episodes of a show are not scheduled to be recorded on a set channel even though I have first run& rerun, any day/anytime selected for the series. I checked, I don’t already have those episodes stored.

If I indicate to record the series on the episodes not originally scheduled, it will record them separately, meaning they aren’t lumped together with the others of their series, even when I adjust the settings to be identical to the original series record settings.
1) how do I stop this from happening?

2) is there a way to merge the two series together on a DVR so I can have the shows lumped together?

Hello.  There’s no way I know of to edit what’s already happened.

As for the series record, it seems that once it’s created, if changed, seems to get corrupted, so you could try deleting and recreating it, then look at which episodes it picks up as scheduled.   Only two weeks of future data is available.

Att won’t fix anything here, so you’ll have to work with what’s there as best you can.  Even when the record is properly setup, things still won’t be perfect.  I’m seeing problems even today with a basic daily show like good morning America, which for whatever reason records some days and then not others.

I've notice that the longer the DVR runs without being rebooted, the more likely it is to do stupid things like miss picking up an instance of a series.  I try to reboot mine every 2 weeks.

Hi @TexGal2023, our Ace's @gr8sho, is  correct as far as series recordings.

Your recordings are set to record when programs are available.

Things do seem to go funny every so often, true.  I have one series that should be a no brainer.  It should record every week day at the same time.  This week it didn’t record at all.  Didn’t touch a thing.  Next week it says it will resume recording. Since the recording instructions are maintained on the server, the fault is likely there.   Have you noticed if rebooting the DVR somehow fixes this type of problem?

Just to point how how poorly this service is supported, compare free space percentage between the settop box and the Uverse app.  The numbers are nowhere near each other.  How this has persisted so long is amazing and points to the lack of quality control for U-verse TV.

This is exactly the sort of problem that fortnightly reboots seems to help.  The recording schedule is stored in the server, yet the DVR retrieves and executes it.  My supposition is that there's some unmanaged code in there with a memory leak and eventually it starts getting random memory allocation errors and rebooting it cleans up the memory.  It may also be that rebooting it just makes it recheck the schedule again.

Seems an awefully drastic measure to force a resync, but then again we got what we got.  I’m personally not too worried about it as I’m just biding my time until the next live tv choice is made.
