Adding a wired receiver
Is a tech appointment need to add a wired stb to my home? Would that be considered a billable dispatch costing $99? I know I can have a wireless one sent to me for $49 plus the $10 monthly fee.

Do you already have the outlet?
--If so, probably not.
Do you already have wired receivers?
--It should just be a $10/mo fee.
Do you have wireless receivers already?
--If so, they'll probably want to send you a wireless one unless you're at your max.
This may be one of those "your mileage may vary" situations. I have no idea what kind of good karma I have, but I was never charged the $49. A tech was out for reasons long-forgotten and hooked me up with a wireless receiver and didn't do the $49.
I think it was because my original receivers were made obsolete...and I said the right words while throwing a fit because AT&T essentially broke their own equipment and I shouldn't have had to pay for an upgrade when something they did caused my situation.
I believe the tech fee is generally only applicable if the tech comes out and it was determined the customer could have fixed the issue on their own. (Oddly enough, years ago, I had wire replaced with new connectors installed for free, but when I wanted to replace coax with ethernet, I had to do it on my own or pay the fee.)

I tried calling and checking online. Getting a wired receiver requires a tech visit but no charge. Also said no charge for wireless stb. Looking online is a one time charge of $49 as I expected. I’ll have to decide which option to take if we add a receiver.
