2 wire wireless router with UVERSE

Why does ATT continue to send worthless 2 wire UVERSE routers? I have had issues with them for over a year. I am paying for 1G speeds and am only getting 100-200.  Every time tech support says the 2-wire is the issue, they replace it with another 2-wire!

Does ATT have a warehouse full of them, that they need to get rid of?

What specific router model did they most recently send you and when was this?

I was able to talk to a Sr tech, and he put in for a newer more compatible router, and he even said it would probably be changed when it got to local office…. It was

We'll do our best to help you get your speed where it should be, Cobrak.

Let us know if your speed improves after you set up the new gateway. If it doesn't, we'll be happy to take a closer look and find a resolution for you.

We'll be awaiting the results.

It is the same model router. It will not change the issue. I have been patient for over a year.  Why can’t you send the proper router that was recommended by the tech support instead of keep sending the same model over again.

We can have a technician deliver a replacement and ask that it be a different model, if one is available.

Let us know if you'd like to give that a try.

Can you guarantee it is not going to be another 2 wire? If it is not a 2 wire I will try it out, and see if I get proper speeds having U-VERSE as well. Otherwise I will have to drop my U-verse, to be able to get a “non U-verse” gateway.  I am willing to give it one more try

@Cobrak

If you have U-verse TV and use coax, the 5268 is your only choice.   If you’ve moved on to using Ethernet and or wireless, you can use the BGW210, however the only reliable way to get one is with a truck roll.  I’ve been through this same path.

If your speed issues are with WiFi devices, then the discussion is quite different and my suggestion there is to buy your own mesh router and set it up as an access point to get acceptable WiFi performance.

The 5268AC is a router still in use, it is capable of handling Gigabit service.  Sounds like Wi-Fi is your problem, and the BGW 210 will not necessarily solve your Wi-Fi problem.  I'd take gr8sho's recommendation and provide your own Wi-Fi Access Point.
