Why is my bill going up every month?

When I first signed up with Uverse, I was very happy. The installation went fairly smoothly, all was working well. I got a one-year promotional rate that ended in Nov. 2014. I think I was paying about $89 for wireless and TV, what I think is a fair price for those services. Once the promotion ended, my bill was $104. OK, I realized it would go up. The following month it was $129. When I called to ask why it went up again, I was given some ridiculous reasons. The customer non-service person gave me some other sort of promotional discount, but said I would have to call in every month to see what discounts might be available. This month, my bill is $137.00. When I called again, the only discount available is a $25.00 gift card, if I upgrade.

Upgrade? I am seriously considering cancelling. I sure don't want to, but neither do I want to be ripped off, and I think that is EXACTLY what you are doing. For basic cable TV and internet (which, by the way, gets throttled every night from about 8pm to 10pm) I am willing to pay about $100 per month. Is there any way to get my bill to be a consistent $100 per month?

I hope there are customer service reps that read this forum.

@givemeabreak21 Contact ATT Customer Care on the link in my signature.

Send them a private message, on this link, and they should be able to give the help needed to solve your changing prices problems. They are available M-F 8am-11pm Eastern time (also around on weekends), response may take up to 2 business days.

This is not the regular CS/TS phone people, but the social media Community Specialists that know the people to contact to get things done and gone above and beyond for me.

Include your account #, email address and a good phone # (land or cell) and time to contact you on.

Check the blue PM envelope, upper right on every page, for their reply. Good luck 😉

Thanks, sent them a message. We will see if anything gets done. Others having the same issue have been given solutions, but then they get billed a higher amount the very next month.

Then go right back to ATT Customer Care, though know any change they made for me stuck like glue for the length of the change. 😉

Just spoke to customer care and they are willing to add a new promotional rate, but I must sign another yearly contract. In reviewing plenty of other messages here online, others have done that and have still seen increases in their bill, always with some excuse.

I think I will just look for an alternative for internet service. I am thinking I will just drop TV and go with an antenna and network stations only. Did that once before for a year or two, and I lived just fine without it.

And after exploring alternatives, ATT has a monopoly on internet services here at the apartment complex I am in. No wonder they can keep raising my rates as much as they want.

I was contacted by ATT, I did sign a new year contract, and my monthly bill was lowered. I have not actually received the next bill to verify that it has been lowered, though. And others here have said that they did get a reduction the next month, but then it went back up again. So I will reserve my enthusiasm for ATT Customer Care for a few months and see if they actually follow through for the whole year.

Corporations like At&T are scum that never keep their word or abide by written contracts. I have a two year contract for TV and internet for $114.81 per month for 24 months.  All has been well until this month where they have now raised my bill to $116.96 per month.  I realize that it is "only" $2.15 cents per month, but that is not the issue.  They are breaking the written contract I signed and blaming it on "services" supplied to them, or "broadcast rate increases" or other such bull doo doo excuses. The point is, if AT&T can't guarantee a monthly fixed rate for 24 months, then don't sign customers up with the LIE that it won't go above the GUARANTEED MONTHLY RATE for 24 CONSECUTIVE MONTHS!  I told the worthless "customer service" agent that I wanted out of the worthless written contract and he said "sure, but then you have to pay a huge,multi-hundreds of dollars fee.

I hate corporations and think that the whole concept should be outlawed.

Like many others you are misinterpreting your "contract".  They haven't broken it because your contracts is for discounts off the current rates whatever those rates happen to be at any point in time.  So the current rates went up in February (as they do every year unfortunately) and your bottom line thus went up accordingly.  But if you look at your bill your contracted discounts are still there, just off of new higher rates.

My "surcharges and fees" go up from $3-$10 every month.  It's really disgusting.

They just slapped me with a 5 dollar increase, with no reason for it. I'm wondering if they're going to start increasing my cost. This is ridiculous.  It's unfortunate that the people have no power this day in age-we give in because we "just want to get along", all the while these vampires feed off our labor.

Got to keep the shareholders happy at the expense of the customers. Yeah, real good solution.
