U-verse App Discontinued
After six weeks waiting on two separate trouble tickets to be resolved, I learned that the U-verse App has been discontinued. Any idea what brilliant AT&T dipstick made that decision???

I should also point out that U-verse TV was sold to DirecTV LLC recently and that may have something to do with what you’re hearing. I personally don’t know any specifics about the app situation.

Like gr8sho, I would like to know exactly who told you that and what words were used.
A lot of CSRs will tell you anything to keep from making a call go on longer. By telling you the app is discontinued, they can get you to quit troubleshooting it on the phone with it.
A new version was just released for Android on the Google Play Store. It appears that the new version has not made it to the Amazon store. This may be accidental or deliberate.

I am a retired AT&T employee, one of the first U-verse customers in San Antonio, and actually worked in the group that developed the network solution. I heard this from a technical support person at AT&T. They used the word discontinued and said if someone was logged in to the App it might still work. Once logged out, it won’t allow you back in.

In that case, the statement is every bit as valid as the statements by the DIRECTV salesmen 5 years ago: It may be true eventually, but right now it isn't.
I just loaded the app, signed out. Instead of logging in, I shut the app down completely. Then restarted it and logged back in. It works fine, I'm watching video content on AMC HD right now.
The new version (September 28, 2021) on the Google Play Store is "6.5.0 Build 0389" and has a splash screen with a white background with the blue "death star logo" and "U-verse." A discontinued app with a 60-day old update?
As I said earlier, there seems to be something up with the Amazon App Store. The Amazon App Store says the most current version is the same as the Google Play Store (6.5.0 Build 0389), but it's not updating Fire Tablets that have an older version. And that older version occasionally puts up a message saying it expires on 30 Nov 2021 and you need to upgrade. The older version has a "Magenta hat girl" splash screen and a version number of "6.4.0 Build 0352". It currently still works.

Do you mean Apple App Store? I am an Apple user. I’ve been through the trouble shooting a couple dozen times and nothing allows me to sign back into U-verse App.

Sorry, no, I'm talking about Android.
For some reason (unlike Google and Amazon), Apple is afraid to let me see the contents of their app store from a browser, so I cannot do any research on that platform without installing iTunes, which is beyond my interest level.
It is possible that AT&T would kill the iOS app and not the Android App. But I'd be surprised.

If you want to login to the app, regardless of platform, you must use your U-verse member ID or a subaccount created through the att.com system. Any other email or alias or linked email apparently no longer works. I’ve written extensively in this forum about how to determine this information. Att has made an assumption that their customers are capable of knowing this implicitly, but in practice that has proven to be otherwise simply based on results.

I know about the U-verse member ID and it doesn’t work on my account. We were the 33rd U-verse customer in San Antonio. I’ve been using it since that time and using the App since it was developed. All of a sudden it stopped working about three months ago and hasn’t worked since. I believe AT&T is no longer supporting the App (based on AT&T technical support telling me the specific date it was discontinued plus my experience troubleshooting the issue). I also believe AT&T is trying to incentivize customers to move away from U-verse to DirecTV.

From where I sit, do not see any incentives. Att is no longer directly responsible for Uverse and from all appearances Directv isn't doing anything about it.
