U-verse and AT&T TV AppleTV App
I'm trying to simplify life (ha ha) by changing out my old AppleTV for the latest version. I believe it can accomodate the AT&T TV app, which should allow viewing of local channels in my area.
But...
I have a U-verse account on AT&T Fiber, and not an AT&T TV account. When I try to sign in on the iPhone AT&T TV app, I get the error message "Incorrect account type, use correct app [code: 0017]".
I'm satisfied with U-verse on the other TV's in the house, and I don't want to switch over to AT&T TV or anything else. Is there any way to get the AT&T TV to work with my existing U-verse account?
Thanks!

So do you have an ATT TV account or a Uverse TV account or both?

ATT TV is the streaming service. It is a completely different service than Uverse.
If you are looking for a Uverse app for your Apple TV, it's not there. From the website:
Get the free U-verse app from the App Store®, Google PlayTM, or the Amazon® app store. The app is compatible with:

We won't talk about the boatloads of $$$$ I'm spending on U-verse TV, Fiber Internet, landline, four wireless accounts, etc...
I guess I need to become more familiar with ATT-TV. Does that indeed give local channels? Does it operate from the user-standpoint somewhat like u-verse?

I have Uverse and have no idea on the pros and cons of AT&T TV. Some people have it and love it and others do not.
You might go over to the AT&T TV forum and have a look and maybe even ask your questions over there.

HERE is the website with all the info.
And FYI: They are no longer offering Uverse so if you 'try' AT&T TV and don't like it, you will not be able to return to Uverse TV.

Hello. I’ve tried this myself and am hearing att doesn’t allow more than one TV service per account. This isn’t yet confirmed, but we are seeing similar results trying to add att tv to our accounts.

Bummer...so you can't get AT&T TV to try it out but keep Uverse just in case?
IMHO...another sneaky way to cull Uverse customers from the herd.

I need to find some time to see if I can talk to someone in att to explain this in more detail. The CC I had on the original DTVN needs to be updated in order to activate the subscription.

Yeah, this is a problem. I need to do a test run to see if my wife can tolerate accessing ATT TV via Amazon Fire Cube. (The interface to the Uverse box is quite problematic, but it's the evil she knows.)
Even an hour-long test would be adequate, and I don't want to give up my U-verse unless I'm absolutely certain ATTTV would be an improvement.
