"Too many sign-in attempts" error code.

Once again the "Too many sign-in attempts" error code has returned.  In order to log into either my ATT account, DirecTV account, or verify my subscription using a firstick app I need to reset my password.

The login issue shortly after the data breach. Called tech support and they had no clue.  Nothing was reported. Asked me to clear my cache and cookies. Really?

Does anyone know what's going on?

Nothing there applies to the issue that I'm having.

"You can call, chat, or reach out via social media, and we can review your specific issue and provide you support."

I called tech support, no help.  Isn't this post considered reaching out via social media?

"If you feel your issue isn’t account specific, and can be answered generally, please let us know, and we’ll be happy to help."

Huh?

Well that went nowhere.

No, this is not considered reaching out via social media.  By that they mean Facebook or X-formerly-known-as-and-still-using-the-domain-name-of-Twitter.

Have you ever set up an e-mail client program (Outlook, Thunderbird, WIndows Mail, etc.) with your account information?

Hi @JrsyDvlInG, thank you for your response. We understand how important it is to access your AT&T account. Let's get the help you need.

If you are getting "too many sign-in attempts" error, we recommend that you wait a full 24 hours before resetting your password. Attempting to sign in before the full 24 hours will reset the 24-hour timer.

Please follow these below steps to reset your sign-in password:

  1. Go to reset your password.
  2. Enter your user ID and the last name associated with your ID.
  3. Choose your verification method and follow the prompts.
  4. Enter and confirm your new password

Let us know how it goes!

My original post I mentioned that...
"In order to log into either my ATT account, DirecTV account, or verify my subscription using a firstick app I need to reset my password."

So I didn't need instructions on how to reset my password.

You mentioned...
"If you are getting "too many sign-in attempts" error, we recommend that you wait a full 24 hours before resetting your password."

That wouldn't work.  I would go to pay my bill after resetting my password, then come back a month later and still needed to reset my password in order to access my account.

But guess what?  The last time I attempted to log into my account, there was a different error.  The heading was now "Restore access" with "Care code 205.2".  Seven steps later I was in my account.  I logged out and then back in a minute later without a problem.

@Bruce

The more and more I converse with reps of different companies through messages, I find that the reps do not read what I've written.  And thus seems the case with your reply.
