Old UVerse account

My elderly mother is due a refund for a very old account (2015), and has now been turned over to the State Comptroller. I have Power of Attorney for her, and am trying to collect the funds for her.
I need to establish this is her account, but have not been able to get anything from ATT either online or in person- I’ve been told it’s too old to be in the system. Help, please?

Is the state telling you that you have to have some sort of proof?

Generally you only have to prove identity using a state issued ID and proof of address like a utility bill.

Yes. She hasn’t lived at the address for years, but I know it’s her (unusual name, small town). I imagine the statement would have her DL or last 4 of SSN that would verify its her.

The only thing a paper bill would show would be her name, the address of service, account number and dates of service.  They don't use a DL # or SS#.

You can call to request copies of old bills but I'm pretty sure they would need an account number.  CS is 800-288-2020.
