Is there anyway to change the primary Uverse Member ID?
When Uverse was installed at my home last year, the main member id was given to my roommate since I was not home the day of the installation and she was, it is an email address she had to come up with and give to the service installer that day. I can add myself as a subaccount, but is there anyway to change that main email address to my own (subaccount) as everything else such as billing is in my name? I don't know why that happened but it was more or less because I was at work the day of the install and was not able to be able to setup an account id. My ATT Access ID is in my name, but in order to login to Uverse to do anything, I have to use hers. She no longer lives here, so I really would like this to get corrected. Can it be? Seems like it should not be too hard to change just like a profile change/update. Thanks! The account is linked also to my ATT wireless, where 1 login will pull up my Uverse and Wireless Account, but I still want to get this fixed. Is there anything I can do on my end??

Hi,
Yes, it is possible to change the U-verse primary member ID. Please contact the chat support at this link http://www.att.com/esupport click on Live Chat to get the chat support, they will be contacting another department to change the primary member ID, you need to re-register or acivate your U-verse internet again to get the changes applied. The chat support will guide you through the steps to change the primary member ID.

I know this is an old post but I also want this.
Like the original poster, I want to CHANGE my user ID to my personal email (such as ????@gmail.com). A lot of customers don't use the @att.net email so we are unlikley to remember it. My account number should be my unique identifier.
Please add the ability to change our login user ID to our registered email address. Thank you.

The "main answer" they give everybody, especially when you call in is "No". Other customer service reps say "I don't know", let me get over to the tech side.
I wanted to change my email address from LLL1.RRRR@att.net (ficticious) to LLL2.RRRR@att.net. The tech support person initially said "No, we cannot do it." I then informed both reps (they were both on the phone at the same time) that you are going to lose a customer because you cannot change a "1" to a "2". The tech support then escalated the situation and suddenly, they could delete my primary email address (and sub accounts which no one in my family uses) and made the new email address!
Why do we as customers have to fight for every like heck?! Why do you say NO on websites but it can clearly be done?! Why don't tech support people or even call center folks know it can be done and just switch us over to the people that can do it?! We sit around and watch our bills increase and our internet speeds go down and if we don't check our bills or make calls or complain, there isn't anyone who to look out for the customers except for the customers. We have to get mad and complain and suddenly, you are worried about losing a customer so you offer us "special" rates or "free upgrades" like we are developmentally challenged people. Don't even get me started on Directv, ATT wireless, etc...
I will say one thing - I eventually found one customer service rep who stuck with me on the phone for almost an hour getting several issues done so there are a few good call center folks out there - It was a miracle I found one.

I wanted to change mine because of spam and they said they could do that. I asked if I could get my old email address back later and they said NO.

Well I am back to my original problem- years after posting I signed up with AT&T FIber, no Direct TV, just the DirectTV Stream subscription. This old currently.com email is showing up in my profile after all this time, as primary email, and I can't even access the account anymore. Is still still impossible to replace this with my permanent gmail address??

I would call Att and have them change it. It appears the primary email is associated with the BAN and they probably want to carefully control updating that data.
