I want to check on credit that was to be applied to my account.
I deducted the 20.00 credit from my bill. My bill still shows the balance showing it is due by Jan. 16. I have always paid my bill on time but ATT is never prompt about anything. It took ATT 4 days to restore my service. Please read the account representative note promising the 20.00 credit. Thank you

The $20 credit (Tegna related) can take a couple of billing cycles as was stated at the time you claimed it.
Deducting it before it was credited was not an option. Did the CS rep tell you to do that?

NEVER just deduct a credit from your bill before it posts. Bill remains valid until credit applies (if ever). Doing otherwise risks late fee and other consequences that would be valid.
If this is in regards to the Tegna situation, so the one-time credit offer accepted online, it would have said it can take up to 2 bill cycles to apply. So pay your bill as shown so you don't end up with a late fee if the credit simply hits the following bill.
However if this was a credit promised by an agent, those usually hit the account within moments. But they don't send out a new bill of course. In that case you would log into your account online to see if it posted to the balance itself. Though it is still possible that may take up to the same 2 bill cycles as this is a special credit situation, so I would still suggest paying the bill as shown.

Thank you for your response, sometimes it take a neutral person to help us see the path we should take.
