How to Report Deceptive Billing Practices by AT&T That Result in Collections That Are Not the Consumer's Fault

I tried for months to get adjusted bills that I was told to expect once I stopped all of my services with AT&T for their deceptive business practices. Since I was a 'legacy' DirecTV customer, NO ONE between AT&T and DirecTV account management was able to provide the final combined Uverse bill. I received a number of credit bills from DirectTV showing a credit on my account. Eventually I received a VISA debit card with my credit paid. However, AT&T UVerse managment failed to finalize closing my account and continued to insist that I owed money and still never provided a closing statement and admitted their failure on handling the bill. I was turned over to a collection agency and was defrauded by them by their claims that I didn't settle with them which I did out of total frustration knowing I was not at fault. AT&T customer service supposedly put in a dispute on my behalf that absolutely did not happen. How is this to be resolved and remove the fraudulent information for my credit report for all of the bureaus. I am working my way through disputing withe each one of them. AT&T SHOULD BE HELP ACCOUNTABLE for this mess. The selection for categories to complete this posting do not cover DirectTV but AT&T owns them!

I appreciate the response. I already tried what you are suggesting, and I was told by the ATT Collections Department that they couldn't do anything. I will try again but I have no confidence that the answer will change. I have also tried to submit an online dispute form and it doesn't work. An ATT agent was supposed to submit one but never did back in November. So, I am still trying to get that answer about how to get ATT to clean up the mess that ATT made to get my credit reports restored. Like everything else with ATT, my expectations are very low. I will continue to warn people about the ATT business practices and to use another carrier.
