How long until Uverse will be discontinued after recent Directv spinoff?
We are being told existing Uverse customers can continue their service, but for how long? That's what ATT Now customers were told before they were merged into ATT TV with not a lot of notice. When I try to find any info, everything is about Directv and nothing about the future of Uverse. Is there any information out there?

At this point, I don't believe that information is public.
Did AT&T even include U-Verse in this sale?

Yes, AT&T included U-verse TV in the sale. But, as you said, nothing has been made public about the end of U-verse TV. It could be months or years away.

How will this affect bundled Uverse products? Phone and internet are currently part of the Uverse bundle.

Short term? It won't. Longer term: these are still two tightly integrated companies, I can see it being extended as long as they're interested in maintaining the customers on the products affected by the bundle. (Uh oh...)

I guess is what I am asking is when should I look for something other than Uverse?
I presume they would want to push ATT TV or Directv, but how aggressive are they wanting to move the Uverse customers, in your opinion.

Hard to say. They've been very tight lipped and it's hard to predict if the Venture Capital company's management will cause any change in behavior. They may start giving attractive and aggressive short-term promotions for AT&T TV to get people off of U-verse and DIRECTV to AT&T TV. They may not. As long as they have significant U-verse Subs, they have to pay for the U-verse infrastructure whether that's 2 million or 3 million; they might was well have 3 million paying customers rather than 2.
I'm a U-verse TV subscriber and I'm watching the situation unfold. If I see a more attractive situation elsewhere, I can jump when that happens; but for now I like U-verse TV and it's not quite expensive enough to make me move.

(a) I got Uverse TV and internet at the same time, soon after they installed those giant ugly metal enclosures on the sidewalks. When UVerse is discontinued, presumably the AT&T internet will stop working too?
(b) My 'retention' deal expires soon. Since they are not recruiting new customers, presumably they no longer care whether they retain me or not? Anyone know if there are still deals for existing customers?
Many thanks,

I would not necessarily expect that AT&T VDSL2 Internet would end the same time as U-verse TV. They have different cost and support structures. Though it's really hard to tell with AT&T.

I was able to get a retention deal last May or so.
You're always welcome to call in a week or so before yours expires and ask.
