HD Technology Question

I've subscribed to U-Verse for 10 years now, since 2005 and each and every month I'm being billed $10 for HD Technology fees.  Why is this?  I've now spent $1,200 in HD Technology fees and I'm just one subscriber. Don't we have this technology updated and fixed by now?  Also, it was I that had to call to have my set box updated after 10 full years of no contact.

Unless you have U450, you pay for HD.   But if you've had UV for 10 years you know that.

The content delivery companies set their pricing based on marketing, not cost.

That policy and the promotion merry-go-round are old standards of the industry. They can quote prices for packages that sound attractive. Then add various extras. Surprize! Or, provide forgiveness of a fee (aka a promotion). Is it starting to sound like buying a car?

You are complaining about an HD fee. But, you do not complain aboiut the "free" DVR.

I never had a DVR before u-verse because my cable provider required an extre equipment fee AND a software fee. I could stomach one, but not two.

The bottom line is that you always need to compare bottom lines. Do not frustrate yourself with trying to comprehend how it is computed.

Notice how the government rides the coat tails of the bill with more costs. Try to find out how much that is before you buy. They will tell you it is too complicated or variable. But, by some magic in the computer, they can add it to the bill. If they can calculate it for the bill they can tell you in advance based on your zip code. But, That makes the service sound more expensive & it is not optional.

Apparently my error.  My apologies for wonderment when cable and Dish are offering no HD Technology fees and after $1,200 invested it continues, but I'm sure you are correct, just another labeling whichever way they want.  Thanks.
