Excessive rate increase
My AT&T bill has jumped by 30 percent. I would appreciate a call from one of your Forum representatives to help resolve. It results from the ever-present promotion game that can take a disturbingly long time to manage in the effort to keep costs to a livable level.
Thank you

This forum is not customer support. The small ATTHelp team here may respond but they will not call you.

OK then, can you offer me the best, most results based means to reach an AT&T individual who can and will address my concerns and provide resolution. Who is the “small ATT help team here”? Where is here? If this team really does exist, how do I make contact with them? Better yet, what can I do to get them to contact me?

Your best bet is to contact AT&T by calling 800-288-2020. Your trump card is to say that you wish to cancel service due to the high price and be routed to the retentions team. They may offer you a discount to keep your service. If you don't like their offers, but you're not ready to disconnect, then say you'll think about whatever offer they make.

JefferMC, thanks for follow-up. Yes, have done that many times (until the last unwilling rep I connected with). Also was able to connect with reps on the Community Forum and they too were helpful. However, doesn’t appear they monitor the Forum any longer. Only non-ATT individuals (like yourself) bother to offer guidance. Guess I’ll try the retention route and keep my fingers crossed. Such (Edited per community guidelines)!!!! Again, thanks.

The reps still monitor this forum. I call in a couple times a year and ask for retentions offers. Before I hang up, I put into my phone the dates the promotions expire. When I see them come up again, I know to call back so I won't get hit with a surprise increase.

Thanks, all. Connected with “retention” and worked out an acceptable resolution. Won’t waste your time going into the circumstances that got me here. Won’t have to jump back into the promotions game for another 11-12 months - though a setback from the earlier two year promotions. I’ll just keep on pluggin’.

I'm glad it worked out.
Something to keep in mind is that current customers are typically offered discounts, not guaranteed pricing. Your pricing will probably go up in early 2021, but it should just be a couple dollars per month.
And like I said, set some sort of reminder to call back so you can beat the price increase and not get that same unhappy surprise.
