Does ATT UVerse match other cable company’s prices?

I’ve had Uverse TV & internet for over 5 years. Started at around $99/month, and now I’m paying $260/mo. Just cable & some movie channels, and internet. Does ATT UVerse match other company’s offers? Ex: Spectrum now has TV $49 & Internet $49, If I sign up w them. Can ATT match to keep me as a customer, or should I just change to Spectrum to save the $160? Thanks!

No they don’t match prices. The price is what it is after promotions expire.

I have some friends that have Spectrum the 99/mo is somewhat misleading as it doesn't cover the 16.50/mo broadcast surcharge, a 23/mo Dvr + cable box add taxes and your 99/mo is really 139/mo for the first year, with a big increase in the second year. You could call retentions,  have a specific dollar amount a  competitor is offering and see what they can do. Be warned with u-verse slowly being  phased out it might be tough to get a discount

First, a note. U-Verse isn't cable. Cable refers to a specific connection. Whereas some U-Verse TVs may use a coaxial connection, the signal also travels over the internet. IPTV isn't full streaming (like Hulu) and it's not really "cable" (like Charter or Comcast.)

I just called in a couple weeks ago. $40 off my U-300. I haven't paid anything for my two additional receivers in years. My internet discount is about to end, but it's currently $40/mo for internet 1000. Considering that includes $15/mo HBO Max at no additional fee, that's one heck of a deal.

Obviously, your mileage may vary, but I find the following things help:

1) Be nice, but firm. Let them know that your price is too high and that streaming services are around $65/mo.

2) Sign up for autopay and paperless billing.

3) If you can't get your additional receivers for free (or discount), consider apps for your additional TVs. You wouldn't be able to access DVR, but Amazon Firestick has a U-Verse app. In addition, devices like Chromecast, Roku and AirTV all have apps you can download to access channels. Chomecast and AirTV both use the Google Play Store. Roku has a nice app where you can type in the name of a show or movie and it'll tell you what app has that title.

Apps might be a viable option for a guest room or a playroom where a DVR might not be entirely desired.

Consider this:

My internet 1000 costs me $40. My cable internet at 6Mbps download (maybe 1Mbps upload) in 2005 was around the same, if not a small bit higher. Via a series of promotions and discounts, I got bumped to U-Verse internet 50, then to 100 and now to 1000. They even installed my fiber wire for no fee.
