DirectTV to Uverse
I signed up for a bundle through At&t and there was no mention of Uverse ever being an option when I spoke to the representative so I figured Direct TV was the only option. Signed up, then went and did some additional research before the install was schedule and realized its satellite based and Uverse was an option. Nothing has been installed yet, was curious if there was an option to switch over to Uverse without any of the ridiculous $420 change fee. Extremely disappointed with the customer service and haven't even started the service yet.

Please do not resurrect a 5 year old thread.
Since your concern is with DirecTV please post in the DIRECTV FORUM

This was my experience, likely the sales team are getting a bonus for Direct TV, so that's what you get. I preferred Direct TV over Uverse, except of course when it rains or snows.

Just unbelievably dishonest and uninformative to not even mention another option provided by your company. Awful sales strategy. Spoke with someone who said I would be able to switch to Uverse without and fees or charges as long as the service wasn't installed in the home yet. I live in Chicago. It's raining or snowing 20% of the time. I'd prefer Uverse

I must be having the same problem.
I had fiber optics connected and the technician said that direct tv satellite would now be obsolete and I could take the dish off of my roof if I wanted.
well now it snowed and I cannot get anything on tv bc the satellite dish is filled w snow.
I thought I was connected to fiber optics.
how can I get rid of my satellite and go through AT&T fiber optics using directtv. (Wo Satellite) ??????
