Current customer Uverse pricing & service quality issue

Recently my Uverse TV/internet bundle went way up in price. I contacted customer service & was told that there were no promotions available. I was asked which were my favorite channels & package was changed to the Family Pack. Problem is that contains none of my favorite channels. Also prior to the price increase the quality of service had dropped. I frequently have the TV picture freeze & a message pops up saying "Uverse has lost connection" and my computer freezes up briefly. I noticed that Comcast has some promotions available with my favorite channels for $110mo plus faster internet.

Superfast 600Mbps+ Popular TV 125+ channels for $110.00/mo

Included:

Cloud DVR, HD technology, Streamplex

X1 TV Box value $8.50/mo

Additional X1 TV Box value $8.50/mo

Internet/Voice Equipment Rental value $14.00/mo

Total $110.00/mo

Is there a way to get a similar package from AT&T? Thanks.

The Comcast pricing is for NEW customers.  You can call AT&T customer service and ask for current discounts but a.) UVERSETV is being phased out so there is no incentive to offer discounts & b.) If you want the Comcast deal you'll have to go with Comcast.

Oh, so AT&T wants current Uverse customers to change their plans. The the customer service agent did mention that I could switch to D-stream but that would require additional equipment. In the past AT&T was very competitive with Comcast pricing. The latest attitude was like saying, take this or leave it. What direction have most Uverse customers taken? I wasn't trying to present a commercial for Comcast, just want to see if I could get similar pricing for a package including the channels that I watch most. Thanks.

We can take a look at your account to see which package works for you, bjrga.

We cannot guarantee that the package and price will be similar to the Comcast offer, but as the Customer Service agent did, we can see what's available.

Let us know if you'd like to proceed.

Most "new customer discounts" are so low because they assume people have to pay to get out of contracts. Those super-awesomely-low prices are essentially helping the customer pay for that early termination fee.

I just renewed for $30 off my base TV plan plus $40/mo for Internet 1000.

I found that mentioning "I want to cancel" and "the price is way too high" usually helps my cause.

There’s a big difference between U-verse TV and Comcast @bjrga , and that is Uverse is no longer being sold to new customers and the install base is rapidly shrinking .  The technology isn’t being invested in and Directv would likely want to see the product retired.  Good luck getting a new arrangement.

Your internet will not come close unless you have ATT fiber 500...

CLOUD DVR is DirecTv Stream

Each receiver is $120 or consider it as $10 per month each for 12 months then you own the receiver... compared to the other offer of $8.50 per month forever(?)

ATT gateway equipment fee is $10 per month, the other company $14 per month

ATT sold their television services in July 2021, kind of hard to offer discounts on a product you do not own.

Summer of 2015 was highest Uverse IPTV subscribers at over 7.2 million accounts, 7 years later I doubt 50% of those accounts are still active guessing maybe 3.5 million left.

Uverse IPTV limited markets within 21 states requiring customer to have FTTN or FTTP service which is about 70% of the hardwired footprint while DirecTv Stream is sold in all 50 states.

Talk to customer retention by saying you want to cancel, tell them about your issues and you basically always get a discount, and an offer to connect you to the Philippines tech center desk, where they will 99% of the time not be able to solve your issue without a truck roll, and 95% of the time with a truck roll lol.

AT&T may be phasing out uverse but they still want the money from providing internet in the bundle enough to not want you to switch to comcast under any circumstances.

Also Directv stream is a super limited terribly functioning product for anyone who watches tv regularly.

Do expect to spend way more on comcast internet after the discounts expire.  and those cable box fees add up if you've got a lot of tvs.

Also att didn't actually sell tv yet.  It's just some corporate restructuring (Edited per community guidelines).  They sold a small portion to a capital fund to change the holding company name and theoertically the capital fund is running it.  But att maintains a majority control of the new holding company so essentially they still own it.  But they can claim they aren't directly running the tv services anymore.  Directtv is part of the same deal and in same situation as directv stream and legacy uverse.

I was confused because I had heard that AT&T bought Direct TV, the stopped accepting new Uverse customers. Then came AT&T TV & now Direct Stream. It seems that their goal is to get Uverse customers to switch to Direct Stream by raises prices too high. If unable to work out a Uverse package, I must decide if I will switch to Direct Stream, Comcast or YouTube TV. I like the current on screen program guide & having DVR service which both AT&T & Comcast offer. The pain about switching is changing the equipment & I may be moving to a different city before the end of the year where I don't think that the AT&T TV service is available.

DirecTV Stream is available anywhere in the USA where there's an internet connection.

DirecTV Stream has regional sports channels. YouTube TV does not.
