Billpay error

My bank made a billpay error. A payment meant for another company was sent to AT&T Uverse for an old inactive account I used to have.

AT&T cashed the check a few weeks ago. I called AT&T to request a return of the money. They claimed they have no record of it.

My bank has tried contacting AT&T with the proof that AT&T cashed the check, but they can't get through to anyone to help with this case.

I already have an inquiry number that I filed with AT&T but I got a response saying I need to call. When I do, I am passed from person to person and no one seems to have a clue what to do. I've called twice and spent over an hour each time getting nowhere.

How do I get my money back? AT&T cashed the check and no one seems to know how to get the check sent back.

We understand your concern about the payment error, TeeLeeBee.

The AT&T Community Forums team is unable to assist with misapplied payments, so you would need to contact Customer Service and provide the ticket number to get an update.

We apologize for any inconvenience this has caused you. Good luck and thank you for reaching out to the Community Forums team.

That is what I have tried before. I usually spend 1 -2 hours on the phone getting passed around from person to person and have gotten nowhere.
