Att-promotions.com is it a scam site?

Is att-promotions.com an authorized retailer or is it a scam site? It showed up as a green site as an add in my google search.

Hi @Rlockhart86,

The site in question is an Authorized Retail website by a retailer for AT&T services.

Thank you for reaching out to AT&T's Community and Forums Team.

Hi -

I called the number on att-promotions.com to start / transfer service and the person had me verify all of my information and asked for personal identification information. I then thought this might have been a scam and called into your support line and the representative told me att-promotions.com is not a website owned by at&t. Is this a scam site?

Same thing happened to my son. After they took all his private information, they hung up on him. He tried to call the number back and it was no longer in service. He googled the information again and a different number was showing. I pulled it up on my end and there was a completely different number.  Seems like every few minutes they are changing numbers which is highly suspicious. He never was able to talk to someone from "att-promotions" and AT&T itself was impossible to connect with regarding what happened. He immediately put blocks on his credit but they have all his important identifying information. It's been a real mess. There have been inquiries on his credit that he did not initiate right after the "call".

I would protect myself if I were you.

This is not true. This website is definitely a scam, and the phone number associated will ask your personal info (SSN, etc) in order to scam you and steal your identity. You can look up other threads on this forum that confirm this

Can confirm that this is not a scam.
I signed up on this website and got an email that they needed to confirm my identity. I called the number on the email 1.844.763.3366 and they started saying I needed to get with their credit department and they would need to re-create my account.

At this point it started to sound like a scam. I hung up, found this forum, got very nervous that I put my ssn into this scam site, and tried to reorder from att.com directly. I got the exact same email, exact same phone number. I called back again.

They gave me the exact same story. I was extremely nervous after they started saying that they needed to confirm my identity with my FULL social, DOB, middle initial, and address. I kept telling myself how much of a silly willy I was for doing this. I mean it sounds like the picturesque scam scenario.

Then they transferred me to their credit department and had me verify more information from my credit report, including saying my full legal name (including middle) aloud, something that I vowed to never do over the phone as scammers can record and use your voice to sign up for things. Again I'm here kicking myself, but I keep looking at the email, its definitely a legit from att email.

After this, the rep told me I was all set and confirmed my email, set up my installation date, and got a confirmation text. I started getting confirmation emails from att. Activated my account (definitely legit, I have HBO Max access).

Overall, not a pleasant experience, it just felt like a scam the whole time. Glad it wasn't, but made me very uncomfortable.

tldr; This site is not a scam, its the same contact information att direct will give you. They just need a lot of personal info.

I wouldn't say that it's a scam.  I will say that AT&T itself will not send you an e-mail directing you to this site.  The site is for a reseller of AT&T services, who has been found to be "ethically challenged" in the past, but then AT&T's record isn't lily-white either.  You may legitimately purchase AT&T services from this site with a price that may be better or worse than you could receive from AT&T directly and may be better or worse than the prices that you think you are getting.  You may receive a bundle of services that are not all provided by AT&T.

I called the number and when I presented to the man on the phone and he said "uuuuhhhm let me get your address? Then I became cautious because every marketing business let their employees know what special service that has to be presented to consumers that are interested.  I told him what city I'm in and he said we have to see if it's available in your area. After that I hung up! There's no geographical neighborhood line for a service if I just told you what city I'm in. I believe it's a SCAM!!!
