AT&T Uverse App on Firestick login

I've downloaded the U-verse app on my firestick. What login do I use? My Wi-Fi login or my acct login that I use to pay my bill? I really don't want to use the billing login.. ugh!

The Wi-Fi login would be useless.

Unless you have created an Access ID where you have merged accounts, then the correct login would likely be the one you use to pay your bill.

Keep in mind that this isn't a direct channel to AT&T Customer Service, and you shouldn't expect rapid answers from anyone, and especially from anyone employed by AT&T.  This is primarily a place where customers assist other customers.

Hi @GinaGooseberry!

We hear you and want to help you with logging your U-Verse TV app via firestick.

Since you are unable to access your U-Verse account via your Fire Stick, let's have you reset the password on your account. The reason for this is that it will re-sync your account in our internal system. Doing this can sometimes alleviate the error you are receiving.

You can use these steps:

  1. Go to reset your password.
  2. Enter your user ID and the last name associated with your ID.
  3. Choose your verification method and follow the prompts.
  4. Enter and confirm your new password.
Please let us know how it goes.

Thank you for contacting AT&T Community Forums.

Thank you @JefferMC I appreciate your help! We were told by an AT&T Tech that AT&T is phasing out the cable boxes & that everyone will eventually have to use their streaming service through AT&T/DirectTV. Just trying to get hip with the new ways since the cable box service isn't always the greatest, & since AT&T isn't providing support for them anymore... We have 1 family member not ready or interested in using the U-verse streaming app, but we'd like to show him the guide & app interface.. I'm sure it's similar, maybe even better than, to what is available in the old clunky cable boxes .. lol.

Thanks a bunch!!

Yes, AT&T is, at some point, going to do away with U-verse TV.  No one knows when.  Yes, they push DIRECTV STEAM as a replacement.  Yes, I do think that this new version of the AT&T U-verse TV app is intended to get you that much more comfortable with the DIRECTV STREAM product.

The app is really nice on phones, where you can decide to record something while away from home and or watch something when you're waiting somewhere.  If you want to save $10/month on a set top, it might be worth trying out, but remember you'll have no access to actually playing back an actual U-verse TV recording.  You can start and schedule (and even delete) recordings, but you will not be able to watch them from this app.  You can watch programming on the "live" channels and any on demand content you can get to, but this will not include your local channels, at least not so far.

I am having the same problem. I tried rebooting the whole system and also changing my password. Nothing has worked. On the fireTV I am able to download the APP, but once I try to open it I get an error message.  Please help!

It's weird because I talked with an AT&T customer via my customer service job (completely not related to AT&T) who didn't have an Amazon Firestick or Firecube & who didn't access the app in her phone or tablet or the service through her computer... She had a smart tv and her son downloaded the apo and it worked just fine, recorded stuff and accessed in demand and live tv, the only catch, she had to download the DirectTv/Uverse App ..

I guess for this household we'll be waiting until we have no choice lol

So I do believe you have to use your AT&T account username & password to login to use, not the wifi username & password.

I tried loading the direct tv app and it may have worked, but I was asked to pay 79.99 a month.  I am already paying for Uverse and I can't use it!  I did use the att username and password, but nothing has worked.  Any other ideas?  I am now considering just calling for tech help over the phone, but I am afraid that will be an exercise in frustration.

The DIRECT TV app is for a different service, not U-verse TV. There are similarities between the apps but you need the app that corresponds to the service you pay for.  The U-verse app doesn't work on FireTV devices released more than about 5 years ago, and tablet support seems to also have gone missing.

I have 2 fire tvs, one was purchased last Christmas.  They both react the same. I have U-verse boxes attached to both tvs. Could this be causing the problem?

@lpinne , what exact model number and/or system software version are your two FireTVs?

(No, a connected receiver shouldn't be an issue.)

Well, my daughter came over today and figured it out, gotta love the younger generation.  A U-verse box is attached to each TV.  The APP is unnecessary  and won't work.  She uninstalled the APP, turned on the U-verse box and changed the Fire TV input setting to the the port that the U-verse box is plugged into. On one TV it is HDMI3 and the other is HDMI1.  Then by using both remotes (one fire tv the other U-verse) to turn on TV and box, change the input setting, and access live TV on U-verse.  This is a little cumbersome, but it worked.  Now my dinosaur husband can watch regular TV on the 55", and I just need to teach him how to do it.  Maybe I should write detailed instructions.  LOL

Thanks to all who tried to help me, maybe these directions will help someone else. To all the readers involved, remember, "No, it can't be done" is not an acceptable answer.

So @ATTHelp  , basically what I am understanding is:

The AT&T UVerse App is meant for accessing your acct, but NOT to watch U-Verse. (The AT&T Uverse App does not give you access to watching live tv or on-demand or recorded programs.)

You cannot access your Uverse TV package channel lineup of live tv or on-demand or recorded TV shows/movies that you're paying for on your AR&T Uverse cable bill  with the Direct TV/Uverse App.

You can either pay & use the old school set top cable boxes and pay a much higher bill, or pay & use Direct TV/AT&T Uverse through the Direct TV App  instead of the old school cable boxes & pay $79.99 per month.

Am I correct @ATTHelp ???
