wired connections for directv without satellite

I want to get directv and use my Denon AVR receiver.  Right now I have att uverse and wish to change to Directv. My wiring now goes from my router to the cab/sat on the Denon then out from ARC to the tv's ARC. I use a logitech Harmony elite as a remote for everything which is very convenient.  I would like a similar wiring without being wi-fi. I would also like the Direct remote to control my on/off and volume up/down of the receiver and tv, is this possible.  Can't get a straight answer from Directv which is giving me some second thoughts on a stream change.

Directv Stream (Gemini box or air) remote will control your Denon and tv (on/off and volume)

You can always do the free trial and test for yourself. That way, you will know for sure.

The DirecTV streaming service (there are 2 "flavors") has apps for a variety of devices (Roku, Amazon FireTV, AppleTV, and their own).  Most have models that support Ethernet in one way or another.  However, only the DirecTV bespoke device (Gemini) provides direct access to channel numbers and some other features to allow it to look more like cable (or U-Verse).  If you want that, be aware that there are 2 Gemini devices - the older Gemini "box" (which supports both WiFi and Ethernet) and the newer Gemini Air (dongle) which only supports WiFi.  Also, the Gemini supports IR remotes, so the Harmony would be able to control it directly, avoiding the use of their dedicated remote (at the cost of losing the voice control capability).  However, the Gemini Air only supports the (proprietary) Bluetooth remote, so wouldn't be controllable by the Harmony.  As far as I know, DirecTV no longer supplies the Gemini, only the Gemini Air.  However, the Gemini is available (used) from eBay sellers.

As far as the 2 "flavors" - DirecTV is now pushing what they call "DirecTV via Internet".  They act as if this is the same as the satellite service, only over the internet instead of using a satellite dish.  It isn't - there are numerous significant differences.  However, the "financial" side is pretty much the same as satellite - there is a 2 year commitment, there are a variety of fees (some of which make no sense for a streaming service), etc.  For this flavor, they provide access to the Gemini (Air) devices (and charge for them).  The other flavor is the older DirecTV Stream service.  It is month to month (no commitment) and no extra fees, but no price lock in.  They do not provide access to Gemini devices to Stream subscribers (but the devices gotten from eBay work).  As of right now, I don't think there are significant differences in the service itself between these flavors, but you have to go out of your way to find it - it isn't shown on the main directv.com site.  You need to go to streamtv.directv.com to find info and sign up.
