What does "Bookmark" mean in DIRECTV STREAM?

DIRECTV STREAM lets you find programs and mark them to be recorded in the future. When they are recorded they appear in the "List" Function. But there is also a "Bookmark" function and at the bottom of the "list" function are all of the programs you have "Bookmarked". When you select a bookmarked program it plays.

What is the difference -- or additional functionality -- of "Bookmark"?

It looks like the bookmarks are like shortcuts to shows. You can go to the show but its not playing or recorded. Often the shortcut doesn't even exist when you return to it. You would think "On demand" would have everything so you can watch it on your schedule, but for some reason Directv stream doesnt get it.

We're happy to help with your bookmark and On Demand questions,@Giman2!

Our On Demand content is provided by the network, and we unfortunately do not have control over what is available On Demand.

Here is a link that may be of some assistance.

We hope this helps.

If you bookmark a series can you unbookmark just one of the shows after you have viewed it? We need a way to mark what we have viewed vs what we have not viewed.

So does a bookmark return you to your location within a program if you have watched part of it?

We're leaving TiVo after years and trying direct TV stream. Just got a 5 day trial. I was wondering what bookmark was saved what it did but if it helps you see a list of your season passes that's great cause TiVo has a list like to see all your passes. I hope we like this!

I'm new here just joined is the right forums for Direct TV Stream. Or is it for both regular and stream?

They need to improve the DVR library management features - using bookmarks that way is a clumsy workaround, but it is what is available now.

And yes, this is the right forum for DirecTV Stream.  The top level that is just DirecTV is for the satellite service ("regular DirecTV").

Thanks I still have a lot to play around with. So can you view a list of all your season passes somewhere? should I just bookmark on demand stuff I want to watch? Soemone said that makes it easier for you to get too. And I saw in my library of something we recorded it said will be kept for 9 months I thought it was just 90 days on everything. I want the box and remote now though I will like it so much better when we get that.

I use bookmarks to keep a list of series I have set to record. Just go to the show you want to record and hit "view all episodes"--then "bookmark series"  Then it's listed under my library --2nd row down.

Ok so I am at Tivo now looking at all my season passes and adding them to here. Some shows aren't showing up when I search is it because they aren't on right now and our off for the season? I see where it says record rerun s or new episodes and then I see bookmark which when I record a season pass of new episodes I am also adding bookmark. This is all new to me.

And on Tivo you could set up something to record for instance by actor anything with Patrick Swayzee or like my husband has a set up for all Louisville basketball games can you do that here or does he manually have to record each one and find out when they are on?  Thanks! After 20 years of Tivo it's a change for me.

Another Tivo convert here ~20 years.  Love Tivo but the the Cloud has usurped the technology.  Looking forward to learning about Recordings vs. Bookmarks.  There's nothing like Season Pass and Wishlist Search on Tivo.
