Using HDMI out and Optical Audio out at the same time

I want signal from DirecTv 400 box to go to TWO receivers.  Can I use the optical Audio output from the DirecTv box to go to one receiver and simultaneously use the HDMI port from the DirecTv box to go to the other receiver?  Or, am I better off getting an HDMI splitter to send via HDMI to both receivers?  thanks!

I am not sure what you are referring to as a DirecTV 400 box, but you will only get audio signal through the optical output of your device. You have to use the HDMI to get video and audio. If you put a splitter on the device you will have two HDMI video and audio signals but it will be the same thing on both TVs.

Hello Steinpoo. We recommend having a receiver for each of your TVs. This will prevent signal issues with your receiver. Splitting the receiver's signal may weaken it and cause connection problems. Please DM us, we'll help you add a new receiver to your account. Kharl, DIRECTV Community Specialist
