Using Gemini R3 to Mute Sony STR-DH790 A/V Receiver
Internet connection (No satellite) (Gemini and Gemini Air remote) I have successfully paired my Gemini Air R3 remote control with my Sony STR-DH790 A/V receiver and my Sony Bravia TV. I can turn the receiver's volume up and down using the remote with no problems and the volume icon with the words Audio system display on the lower left corner of the TV. However, when I use the remote to try and mute the receiver, after pressing the mute button, the volume mutes for only a second and the volume icon with an X thru the icon with the words Audio system display on the lower left corner of the TV and then the volume IMMEDIATELY returns. I have to press the mute button on the R3 multiple times, in rapid succession, before the mute stays on.
I have unpaired and re-paired the R3 remote with the Sony receiver multiple times but the mute not working properly problem remains.
Any assistance with this problem will be greatly appreciated.

I finally figured out how to get the mute button on my R3 remote to work properly with my Sony STR-DH790, but I am not thrilled with the fix!
After programming my R3 remote to control the volume on my Sony STR-DH790 receiver, I looked at my Switch Volume Control setting and saw that it was set to TV. This setting allowed me to see the Audio system display on the lower left corner of the TV when I turned the volume up or down on my receiver or muted the volume. However, the mute would not "hold". I then changed the Switch Volume Control setting to None. Now, I can mute my receiver with one push of the R3's mute button and it stays muted. The drawback is that I can no longer see the Audio system display on the lower left corner of the TV when I use the R3 to control my receiver's mute and volume control.

Another update. I got everything working like it should!
I continued fiddling with the Remote & Devices settings. I found that, if I set the Switch Volume Control to TV and set the HDMI-CEC Volume control to OFF, I can mute my Sony receiver with one push of the R3's mute button and it stays muted. I can also see the Audio system display on the lower left corner of the TV when I use the R3 to control my receiver's mute and volume control.
