Update Osprey box with old software
I have an Osprey box with old software and it no longer updates. Is there an APK I can sideload to update it?

Is it hanging at the update screen? Runnig by WiFi? Try Ethernet. There are some issues getting the update via WiFi. I had the same issue with WiFi. Updating using Ethernet solved the issue.

As the previous Direct Message expired, it is necessary to create a new post to connect on a private interaction. As soon as you do, we'll send you a DM so we can continue working on this.
Thank you.

What is so confidential about this post that you have to go private? I am sure many other subscribers would be interested in the solution from @DIRECTVhelp

@DIRECTVhelp almost always takes posts private. Rarely is that necessary for the topic being discussed. Seems to be a dumb company policy that should be changed.

You didn't send me a new one Carlos G.
To answer questions since I already know the answer. My software is old and still under the old ATT Now software. At some point after they switch to DirectvStream they changed the update website location to the software. They then trashed the old server address used to update the software. So if you have not updated your box in the last year, you now have a brick.

We understand this is frustrating, we want to look into the options, to get this resolved, it is necessary to create a new post to connect on a private interaction. So we can work together

It doesn't look as though these old boxes can be upgraded anymore. I have tried all of the techniques (hard reset etc), but it won't update. Directv won't assist as the product is now out of warranty. I bought two boxes a couple of years ago and cancelled the subscription...now I have a new subscription, but the boxes that were left offline never made the switch to AT&T. I checked with wireshark and they are going to the correct servers...but perhaps the firmware is looking for a file that no longer exists. Since I have older boxes that did update, I am convinced that if these could be updated via USB instead of online I would have two working boxes...

Any fix? I am currently trying to update a box from the beta that I never opened.

@mabrunk At this point, I am pretty sure that box would be obsolete since it has never had an update. But you could try plugging it in by ethernet directly to see if it would update. If that doesn't work your best bet would be to get a refurbished box through Directv Stream for $49.99. Hope this help

Anyone who was on the beta test (that has had a continuous subscription since then) isn't eligible to buy Ospreys from DTV (refurb or new). They can't explain to me why, but I assume it is yet another effort on their part to get us to drop our subscriptions.

In the end I was forced to dump the two older units and buy two refurbished models.
DirectTV should really have allowed these to continue to be updated (I have older ones that still update just fine...it's just that these two must have missed the crucial update that allowed for future updates.) It's very unethical that you should be sold something that is broken by the company a day past its 1 year warranty - but that's how it is. It's not worth my time, I already spent hours trying to get these working, $100 bought me 2 more...
