Turn off TV with Direct TV remote

My Direct TV remote does everything on my LG TV but will not turn the TV off. I continue to get a No Signal message after trying to turn off the TV and I have to use the LG remote.

Hi @mtavegia. We're sorry to hear that the remote isn't working as it should. Below are the steps on how to program the remote to power off your TV:

- Select ‘Power Off Devices’, to enable, press OK
- Select ‘Power Off Devices’, to disable, press OK
- Select ‘Program Your Remote’, press OK
- Select ‘Remote & Devices’, press OK
- Select ‘Systems’, press ‘OK’
- Arrow down to select ‘Settings’ (Gear Icon), press ‘OK’ on the remote
- Arrow left to expand the left side navigation menu
- Press the ‘Home’ button on the remote

Thanks for getting back to us and letting us know. Let's try to unpair your remote by following the steps listed below:

- Press and hold Dash (-) and Apps or Diamond keys simultaneously.
- The LEDs blink blue on both sides of the remote once, continue to hold the buttons for approximately 3 seconds, until the LEDs blinks blue 2 more times to complete unpairing.

I did all that and it still sends a message Do you want to turn on your set-top box?  Then I get a No signal message and the only way to turn off the TV is with the LG remote.

Thank you for doing the troubleshooting steps. Since unpairing and pairing back the remote didn't work, please try to factory reset the remote by following these steps:

- Press and hold the Home and Exit keys simultaneously, until the LEDs on both sides display red.

- Press 981 on the remote control.

- The LEDs will turn Off and then blink blue 3 times on both sides.

 

Once done, the TV screen will prompt you to pair the remote; simply follow the on-screen instructions. Let me know how it goes. Kenneth, DIRECTV Community Specialist

Did all of that. It just said it needed to be paired, press the fast forward and reverse keys. Did that. Said it was now paired and ready to use. Tried to turn it off but if still give me a No signal slide. That slide said 1)Please check the power of the external devices and cable connection statuis. 2) Press the (icon) on your remote to change to another inpur. HAve to use LG remote to turn off TV

I appreciate you doing that. Please try to unplug the DIRECTV device from your LG TV and plug it back in but in different HDMI port. Kenneth, DIRECTV Community Specialist

I did that, put it in a new HDMI. Responded yes to question about making Direct TV the main set box device. Remote worked for everything except it will not turn off the TV. It seems to be off and then a No Signal screen pops up again and I have to use the LG remote to turn it off.

You can find the Private Message/Direct Message (PM/DM) icon (text/speech bubble) on the upper right portion of the page between the notification icon (bell) and directv.com. January, DIRECTV Community Specialist

Here is what I have across the top of this page:

DIRECT TV Community Forums  Categories  Ask a question  Leadership  directv.com  notification bell  red circle with M in it. I do not see a text/speech bubble here. I have looked at this on my computer as well as my iPad. I'm not seeing it.
