Trouble getting Gemini Air to work with Mitsubishi DLP TV

I have a Mitsubishi DLP TV (WD 82642) from 2012.  I have severe light sensitivity issues and I cannot use newer LED TVs, so I'm stuck with this one.  I signed up for DirecTV Stream but I can't get the Gemini Air dongle to work with my TV.  I thought it was an HDMI issue (I think my TV has 1.3 or 1.4) but everyone keeps telling me it's not that.  I haven't had any issues getting other things to work with the TV (XBOX, Roku).  It works a little better when I use the Gemini Air through the XBOX (One S) which I think has HDMI 2.0a.  I used a relatively new HDMI cable, which I assume is 2.0.  When it starts up there is a green DirecTV screen, then 3 black screens with DirecTV in white, then the screen turns purple and after a few seconds the Gemini Air shuts off and there is no signal to the TV.  I've tried to reset it a few times, but get the same result.  Any ideas?

Hi, @asifmohamed. Gemini Air works depending on the type of device you're using and your Mitsubishi DLP TV is not under the list of compatible devices. Device should have at least the following:

- HD and 4K TVs with HDMI 2.0., High Bandwidth Digital Content

- Protection (HDCP) 2.3 and 1.4, 60 HZ.

- Capable of 4K, 1080p, and 3D.

You don't really need the DirecTV Stream device if you have a Roku. Just use its DirecTV Stream App. Does that work OK?

Thanks for the replies.  My TV doesn't meet those specs, but I think the Xbox One S does.  I was hoping that since the Gemini Air was directly plugged into the Xbox that it would just pass the video along to the TV to display it.  I guess I'm not that lucky...

I had bought a Roku in the past and it worked on my TV, but something about the video it displayed gave me terrible eye strain and headaches.  Perhaps I should try the Amazon Fire Stick or Apple TV and use the DirecTV Stream app as you suggested and see if that works for me.  I would prefer to use the actual Genie Air because of the remote.  I wasn't sure how you control it with those other services since their remotes don't have numbers!

DIRECTV STREAM is not available on Xbox and only works with compatible devices which you can check through the link we've provided. Indeed, Gemini Air remote makes it easier for you to explore on the TV compared to other remotes. If you're having a hard time navigating with other remote control, you can try to get reference here: Explore DIRECTV with the Roku remote or app | DIRECTV Support Hope it helps.
