Traveling with AppleTV and Directv Stream - can't get Local channels
I can't get local channels to display on the TV. I am using an appletv box to connect to the TV. The local channels displayed properly yesterday but today they have been replaced with my local channels from home 2,000 miles away. The local channels display and work properly on my iPhone and my iPad but will not display on the MacBook or the TV. I have verified location services is turned on in systems settings on the AppleTV box. I don't know how to turn on location services for Directv on the MacBook. Any ideas?

Thank you for reaching us. Even when traveling, we want you to enjoy the local channels on your DIRECTV STREAM service.
The location services must be turned ON to view all programming: Local channels, RSNs, National Networks, Cloud DVR, etc.
If the location can't be determined, or if location services are turned OFF, channels are based on your Billing ZIP code.
Is it possible that someone is also using the service in your home? Maria, DIRECTV Community Specialist

I have verified that location services are on for Directv. We are a couple traveling and have no children. There is no one else using our service. Any other ideas? Please note it worked fine yesterday when I set it up and then didn’t today. I changed nothing.

What do you mean “resetting” the application? Do I need to delete it and reinstall it?

Yes, please try to delete and reinstall the app. Once the app is reinstalled, turn off and turn back on the location services. This should make sure the app is updated, and the location services are working. Let me know how it goes. Andres, DIRECTV Community Specialist

All local stations appeared on the guide this morning without me doing a thing. One of the stations Arizona 3, gave me an error message ( ! Looks like you’re traveling. Owner of this channel has made it available to stream for residents only). I went ahead and deleted and reinstalled the app , I restarted the Apple TV box, I toggled location services on/off several times. The local stations for my current location disappeared from the guide again on the tv and computer but are on the iPhone and iPad. The tv and computer have my billing address stations which is 2000 miles away. These stations are displayed in local time. I get the above error message on phone and iPad for channel 3 Arizona family

The IP addresses on the tv is different from my other devices. Is this the issue? When I try to change my home location I get a message stating “you are at your home location”……

Yes, the devices save your IP address and save it as part of your home location to identify all the devices that are in the home network. Usually, the IP address will be the one your internet provider uses in your router, so it is unusual for you to have your home IP address while traveling. I am staying in an air BnB rental unit. The AppleTv gets the internet from a wirless signal. The appletv is connected to an lg tv via HDMI cable. The iPhone, the iPad and the MacBook all have iPhones addresses starting with 192.168. The iPhone and iPad have local channels listed in the guide but are unable to play channel 3 due to the error message I sent before. The MacBook and the Apple TV have channels from my home 2,000 miles away.
