Sony Bravia TVs don't support the DIRECTV STREAM app as far as I know, so are you sure it is through the actual Sony TV? You may have been using a streaming device for DIRECTV STREAM, and thus the specific remote for that external streaming device must be utilized to control the streaming device itself. Examples of streaming devices include Apple TVs, Rokus, Fire Sticks, etc.

If you want to use Directv Stream--and have a remote that can change channels--you need a Directv Stream box (Gemini, Gemini Air)

Sony Bravia runs Android TV, and there’s been an Android TV app for about 10 months now.
I’m not sure why people (ACEs even) spread incorrect info and push the Osprey/Gemini party line. Yes, for people who want a “cable” experience it has some advantages. But many people who are used to using apps for TV are used to using apps for TV. And DirecTV is charging a silly amount of money for the device. So if someone already has a device which can run the app and are happy with it, let them be. If they have a question you can answer, do so.
@MOOSEHEAD78 - I’ve never run the app on a Bravia. However, on most devices, the left/right buttons on the D-pad are the channel up/down. Does your remote work for other actions in the app (going to the home page, navigating and selecting things in the program guide, etc.)?

@Jrandomuser
All I stated was that AFAIK Sony TVs weren't supported, I never said 100% it isn't supported. This is new info to me that they now run the Android TV OS, so I appreciate that update at least. And, I don't find @Ludwick577 to be pushy at all, he is just stating that a Gemini/Gemini Air does offer a better experience and that the remote allows you to have a number keypad.
