Senior Large Button Remote for Gemini System
My mother in law has dementia and needs a very simple, large button remote to control her Gemini system in her assisted living apartment. The facility just dropped all the provided TV and forced us to get our own. She has ATT internet so we added DirecTV gemini.
She cannot use the provided remote. Too small, too complicated. We have already made a favorites list of about 15 channels for her. We have it set to come on and she can use the numbers to key in the channel with a list we printed. But this is even too much.
Any suggestions on a different remote? This is bluetooth. Since it is RF, I'm assumimg that I will need another RF remote.
We can't find anything that works.

She knows how to use it. But it is too small for her to see and work properly. Do you know of a 3rd party remote that would work?

Only the remote that comes with the DirecTV Stream device supports the entering of channel numbers. If you do happen to find a remote offering larger buttons, be aware of the loss of functionality with the service.

Hi, Steve. We're happy to hear that your mother-in-law is able to use the remote and understand the need for bigger buttons. Universal remotes are available on the market that's from 3rd party; However, you may lose many features available with the DIRECTV remote, such as using numbers and voice control, etc. Our remote was deliberately created for their streaming device to imitate a cable-like feeling. I have the same issue. Mother and mother in law both with dementia can't remember channels. One is also legally.blind. I fix channels all day. I bought Flippers but those are ir remotes and Gemini streaming device is not compatible so I am screwed since there are no boxes I can purchase to work. I literally signed the contract 2 months ago and it is useless. Now I have to go back to my old provider. Probably sublet my directtv because I can't afford both and locked into this for 2 years all because of a remote/accessibility. Screwed. Only.upside is I can return the Flippers. Got to do better please!!!

you really need to make a big button remote for the Gemini! my mother is 84 with bad eyesight and is always struggling with the remote!
