Recording tv shows

Currently using spectrum with 2 cable boxes.  Wife records number of shows/movies for viewing later.  Can she do the same when streaming Direct TV?  What equipment is required to receive direct broadcasts and record shows?  Our TV’s are “smart”.  Do they need to be hard wired or can Wi-Fi work?

Hi Newtvpackage. We appreciate your interest in our service. With DIRECTV via the Internet, you can rerecord shows/movies. Learn more here: https://www.directv.com/support/article/000069768 . Carryl, DIRECTV Community Specialist

1. Yes, you can do the same with DirecTV Stream.

2. You have your choice of streaming equipment. If you subscribe to "DirecTV via Internet" service they'll provide you with DirecTV Streaming boxes. Or you can subscribe to DirecTV Stream "Bring Your Own Device" and use streaming devices like Roku, FireStick, Apple TV, etc. Some Smart TVs can download a DirecTV Stream App, but those are generally very buggy.

Are you stuck with monthly fees when you use the Direct control boxes?

Yes, there's a monthly fee of $15 per month if you use a DIRECTV device to access its advanced features. Learn more here: https://www.directv.com/support/article/000096463 . Carryl, DIRECTV Community Specialist
