Osprey box noob question

The DIRECTV STREAM Osprey Box is a lot faster and more optimized for streaming live content. It features an easy to operate and user friendly remote. The video is a lot less known to pixelate, buffer, or even show errors on this OSPREY BOX. Many have complained about how the Fire TV stick always pixelates and buffers, most likely because it does not perform well while trying to live stream.

Overall, the DIRECTV STREAM box delivers a better remote, faster response time, and it is more optimized for DIRECTV STREAM.

I'm fairly new to  DirecTV Stream and did my trial using a Fire Stick.  I found several things I did not like about the Fire Stick.  Biggest was the issue of losing the icons in the guide.  Also, no support for number keys.  No channel guide wrapping (when you hit the bottom, it does not cycle back to the top).

I purchased a C71KW-400 off Ebay. Love that it supports Optical Out. Resolved all the issues I saw with the Fire Stick.  Not sure if that is the same as the Osprey box but I like it so much more than using a Fire Stick.

Pardon me if I'm too late, but I just came across this thread and didn't see where anyone addressed your issue of finding the link to buy a refurbished Osprey box.

When I log into stream.directv.com on a desktop web browser, I click the settings gear in the top right, then "Account Details," then I have a section called "My streaming devices." I click the "Manage" button, then "Add a device." This is where it presents the option to buy a "Certified Restored" box for $49.99.

I ordered one refurb this way, and it works as well as the new one I got when I first purchased the service.

Warranties for dtv stream refurbished are limited to 1 year if purchased from directv.

New ospreys have the 2 year warranty and for customer that may not be able to do a one time payment.

New ospreys can be financed for $10.00 a month extra on your bill for 12 months. After the 12 months. Osprey is yours. You have another year on the warranty.

your Monthly reoccurring rate goes does down to the base rate of whatever package you would be in.

Nothing tying you to the account of you were to cancel after the device is paid off in full.

I cancelled DIrecTV service, since user pass away.

Now I have an AT&T C71KW-400 DirecTV Now Osprey Android TV OTT Box Streaming Player, that can't be used as an standard Android TV Player.

Anyone knows to unlock it?
