New subscriber... got a gemini I don't need

We have all Apple TVs. I signed up by phone because I couldn't get my login working on the website (it's a long story). I tried to tell the guy on the phone I had no use for and didn't want a Gemini. They sent me one anyway. I haven't opened the box and don't plan to. I am perfectly happy with the Apple TV DirecTV Stream app.

Did I just talk to the wrong person at DTV? Can I send this stupid box back? Would my bill go down any?

Did you sign up for DirecTV via internet with the 2 yr contract? Because that's the plan they sent out a Gemini air with

Sounds like you got DirecTV via Internet which is a 24 month service agreement model (very similar to the satellite service with fees as well) with required equipment instead of DIRECTV STREAM which is a bring your own device (BYOD) such as Apple TV.

Well, I am watching DirecTV exclusively with the DirecTV Stream app on Apple TV. Does that mean anything?

They don't have an individual app for each service anymore, it is all in one. If you using the login from when you signed up for DIRECTV STREAM, before you called DirecTV resulting in the box order, you might be signed up for two accounts now.

I would suggest calling DirecTV and verifying the situation. Hopefully you can return the box (that is unopened, so return to sender situation) that you don't want to use without penalty.
