Moving to direct tv stream questions

I’m currently a satellite customer (since 1997) and am moving and thinking of moving from satellite to internet access. As a current directv customer I’ve been using the direct tv app on my iPad and thru roku. Both work great but changing channels by dialing in the channel via app or roku isn’t possible. Plus one of the best features of the satellite feed is the double play option. I understand the best way to get close to satellite remote use is to go to the Gemini device. I see there are 2 Gemini devices mentioned -  the Gemini and Gemini air. So I’m pretty sure I’m fully prepared to sign a 2 yr contract. Can someone enlighten me on the difference between the two Gemini devices before I make the switch. Plus I heard that i can try the service out for like 2 weeks.

thanks

Gemini is a small box. Air is a dongle you plug into your TV like a fire stick. Other than that both are exactly the same with the same software and remote

First, the Streaming and Sat services are basically the same when using the Gemini Devices there are some differences. One of the differences there is no Double Play option and no picture in picture.  When using the app on devices you are not able to turn directly to a channel but using the Gemini devices you can which makes it the closest you can get to having a Satellite without having one.  The differences between the devices are simple the Gemini Air is similar to a Roku/Firestick and is only WiFi capable.  The regular Gemini is also WiFi capable but does have the option to hardwire with an ethernet cable if WiFi is slow or gets interrupted often.  Plus you have to have a strong reliable internet speed with at least 10mbps per streaming device so that you do not run into bandwidth problems or buffering issues.
