LG TV not working with DirecTV Streaming box

I have several LG TVs in my house but the DirecTV Streaming box appears to be incompatible with these TVs

As long as those LG TVs have HDMI ports, the DIRECTV STREAM Osprey Box can be plugged into them.

What makes you think they aren’t compatible? What issues are you having?

They all have HDMI ports but the startup screen never loads when first setting the boxes.  My other tvs are Samsung and they have no problems. The start up screens load  and you then set up the wireless network.  For some reason all 3 LGs have the same problem.  It’s as if they don’t recognize the boxes.

Hi William, we want to address this case as soon as possible. I have a quick question, Have you tried the factory reset before? If not, press and release the red reset button on your main receiver.

Let us know if it works.

Yes.  Several times.  When I try to set up the box for the first time. Instead of getting a blue light and the Wi-Fi set up screen (which I get with Samsung tvs), I get the blue light and a flashing red light (no network connection) and no Wi-Fi set up screen.

Hardwire via ethernet connection when you set it up.

My guess is you have an app on the TV connected to the HDMI port you are using for the streaming box. There should be no app, it has to be a vanilla HDMI input.

Thanks, I'll have to get a ethernet cable that reaches.  There are no other connections to this TV,  How can I tell if it's a "vanilla" HDMI input?

I am really confused about this.

The streaming box needs to be connected to the internet so it can receive the streaming signal. Then it needs to be connected to the TV via HDMI so that the TV can display the resulting video signal. What connections do you have?

I think OP was confused by the description "vanilla"

Just make sure the box is connected with an HDMI cable to HDMI 1, or HDMI 2,  or HDMI 3.

Maybe. But I suspect his boxes might not be connected to the internet at all, even if they are connected to the TV.

When first setting up the streaming box on non LG TVs, I first get a blue light indicator that the box has power.  then firmware in the box displays a screen that asks you to select which wi-fi network you want to use.  The  box's instructions then say, select the network, log into it, then you are connected to the internet and can stream.  This is exactly how it works on all my TVs except the LGs.  With LG TVs, I get a blue light on startup AND a red flashing light saying "no internet connection".  So it appears that the box's firmware is not talking to the LG TVs like it does with all others.  Tech support at DTV confirmed this is a problem with LG TVs.  Their alternate startup in the instructions calls for an ethernet cable instead of the firmware's wi-fi set up screen which is what I'm going to try next.

Can you set it up on a Samsung then move it to an LG?

I'm having the same problem with my LG television.  The Gemini set up went smoothly on my Sony livingroom television but when I try to set up the LG in my master bedroom I get the blue light and a flashing red light and when it gets to selecting the network you can't go any further.  Big problem and I'm not happy!

@Grantthree1995 Try connecting an ethernet cable to the box for setup. That red light is an internet connection issue. Also, restart your internet modem/router

If my tv is not compatible with Direct Stream TV, how do I solve this without buying a new tv?
