Don't bother returning the box. Directv will refuse to refund your money even if you return it within the required time. I have my UPS return receipt dated 12/6/22 and UPS said they cannot give me a tracking number and Directv says they didn't get the box. I think I will have to take Directv to small claims court to get my money back.

You own the DirecTV Stream boxes. Perhaps you can use it on a different TV?

I returned the box because the AT&T store said I could and the phone rep said I could. You don't need the box to watch Directv so why should I pay the $120.00 for the box. Now that UPS shipped it back, it has disappeared.

Per their cancellation policy, you can cancel a device order and return a device for refund within 14 days of receiving it (if you got it at an AT&T corporate store or a DTV Stream "Authorized Dealer") or 14 days of them shipping it to you (if they mailed it to you - so clearly a shorter period). It can be returned to an AT&T corporate store (regardless of how you got it) or mailed back (if you got it by mail or from an authorized dealer) -but the policy doesn't make clear if the 14 days is until it gets mailed or until they receive it, so it seems much much safer to take it to a store if you can.
That page seems to imply you can cancel device orders independently of your service subscription, but the "how to cancel a device order" info is a duplicate of the cancelling a subscription online info (which I'm not sure works for cancelling a subscription anyway). so I think you would need to call them. In any case, it certainly implies you can't just return the device without explicitly cancelling the device order.
I'm not sure who told you to use UPS (that's who did U-Verse device returns, but per the page, not DTV Stream device returns). In any case, not following their return rules (as somewhat ambiguous as they seem to be) is an invitation to not get a refund. Did you tell either the phone rep or store rep that you wanted to cancel the order and return them, or did they just say that was an option if you decided you didn't want the devices? If you cancelled with them, did they give you any return info? (It's quite possible that they could have given you bad info - I don't find their reps very reliable when it comes to important details. I attribute that to marginal training or reps that say what they think is correct without actually checking, rather than the rep intentionally providing wrong info. And this isn't limited to DTV/AT&T reps - I don't have much faith in that sort of info from most companies' reps. Regardless of the reason, in writing is much better, so when I need that sort of info - cancellation policies, etc. - I try to get an official piece of paper from the rep or search online for the info.)
