Issue when I click “off” on DirecTv Stream remote

Hi,

I set up the DirecTv Stream box and remote for my dad. I got the remote paired with the Samsung CU7000 smart tv and with the Zvox speaker.

But….I have one issue. When I press “off” on the DirecTv Stream remote, it goes off for a moment, then “FearZone” from Samsung (live tv, I think? I’ll have to check) comes on. It’s so weird. 

I have the Samsung tv set up so that it just shows HDMI 1, since my dad is using the DirecTv Stream box.

But WHY is it not turning off when I press “off”? Any help with remedying this? DirecTv Stream goes off for a moment, then the Samsung channel (1001, I think, playing FearZone) is on. 

I just told him to leave the tv on for now, just lower the volume if he is not watching.
